All New Farrah Fawcett Interview
Entertainment Tonight -- Since being diagnosed with cancer in 2006, Farrah Fawcett has been in headlines and splashed on the cover of magazines and tabloids worldwide -- but the beloved star reveals that she has also had to fight to protect her privacy.
In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, Farrah opens up about publications printing false information and about her medical records being released without her consent.
"It's much easier to go through something and deal with it without being under a microscope," she says. "It was stressful. I was terrified of getting the chemo. It's not pleasant. And the radiation is not pleasant."
The star tells the paper that she doesn't get the same rights to privacy as a normal person because of her celebrity status.
"I'm a private person," she said in the interview. "I'm shy about people knowing things. And I'm really shy about my medical [care]. It would be good if I could just go and heal and then when I decided to go out, it would be OK."
Since the actress opened up about her own experience, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has established tougher penalties in response to violations of patients' privacy.
