Jimmy Kimmel

Spotlight

Jimmy Kimmel, a straight-As student whose idol was David Letterman, spent his formative years in Brooklyn and Las Vegas before attending college at UNLV and Arizona State where he got his first taste of radio. After bouncing around professional radio stations, he became known as Jimmy the Sports Guy on LA’s KROQ. In 1997, his radio face showed up on TV as the host of Comedy Central’s hit game show Win Ben Stein's Money, a gig he won a Daytime Emmy for in 1999. In 1999, he formed production company Jackhole Industries with his bestie Adam Corolla and together they created The Man Show and Crank Yankers. ABC tapped him as the late night host of Jimmy Kimmel Live! in 2003. He was married to his college sweetie Gina Maddy, with whom he has son Kevin and daughter Katherine, from 1988 to 2002, and then dated Sarah Silverman from 2002 to 2009. He wed one of his show’s head writers, Molly McNearney, in 2013 and they welcomed daughter Jane in July 2014.
