David Spade Donates $200,000 for Tornado Relief

USMagazine, Wednesday, May 4, 2011, 2:35pm (PDT)

Heart of gold!

David Spade has reached into his pocket to make a charitable donation of $200,000 to the American Red Cross for disaster relief. The actor's monetary support will go towards those affected by the 178-some tornadoes that ripped through the midwestern and southeastern United States during April 27-28, killing hundreds and stranding thousands.

"With the devastating disasters the tornadoes and floods are causing I wanted to help the Red Cross in their efforts to provide help as quickly as possible," the "Rules of Engagement" star said in a statement. "I also hope this will help to shine the spotlight on the people of the United States who are in desperate need right now and that others will join me in donating what they can to support the American Red Cross’ huge disaster relief effort."

"The American Red Cross is extremely grateful for this generous support from David Spade who, over the years, has selflessly donated his time, talent, and money to assist those in need," the Red Cross issued in a statement.

This isn't the first time that Spade, 46, has helped out the Red Cross. As an American Red Cross National Cabinet member, Spade was able to contribute $50,000 to disaster relief efforts in Kentucky and Tennessee last July through and personal donation and monies raised from a sold-out series of shows.

But Spade is not the only star in Hollywood to assist the tornado victims; Charlie Sheen launched the website TorpedosAgainstTornados.com to raise money for disaster relief. If a donor contributes $100 or more, the 45-year-old actor will send him or her an personally autographed baseball. Winning!
