In times of trouble, it never hurts to have a sympathetic and obscenely wealthy shoulder to lean on. But just how hard is Bethenny Frankel leaning on her longtime friend, billionaire financier Warren Lichtenstein?
Late last week, rumors began a-flying that the reality star had moved out of the luxury downtown Manhattan loft she shared with her estranged husband, Jason Hoppy, and their 2-year-old daughter, Bryn, and into the swanky Upper East Side digs of the hedge fund moneybags.
Bethenny, 42, also reportedly spent part of the holidays in Aspen, Colo., with a group of pals that included Lichtenstein, 47, and she accompanied him on a trip to Hong Kong in October, two months before she announced her divorce.
"Bethenny and Warren have been great friends for more than 20 years," a source explains the London Daily Mail, "and he has really been a support system during this sad time."
But that support apparently doesn't include shacking up. According to the spy, Frankel did spend a night at Lichtenstein's pad, but only so "she and Bryn could have some girl time. But she is not staying at Warren's home, nor did she move out of her home."
Adds another insider, "Jason is still living at home with Bethenny and Bryn."
Following months of rumors, the Skinnygirl mogul announced the end of her nearly three-year marriage to businessman Hoppy in late December.
"I feel like a failure," she told Ellen DeGeneres a few days after she filed for divorce. "I really put it out there. I wanted the fairy tale. I thought I had it. … This is excruciating, I have to say."
