A few weeks before she gave birth to adorable daughter North, Kim Kardashian put her pregnant form into the creative hands of Kanye West's BFF, Givenchy's Riccardo Tisci, the man responsible for her floral failure at the Met Gala in May.
In a Karl Lagerfeld-photographed shoot for Carine Roitfeld's biannual CR Fashion Book, Kim strikes a variety of sometimes awkward poses: wearing a gold grill, exposing her belly, sporting a Yankees cap, donning a bejeweled mask and messily eating jam against a wall of flowers (as you do).
Roitfeld, the former editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris, tells WWD that she envisioned the shots as a "precious moment of Kim's pregnancy that people haven't seen. Pregnancy is something that I always love. It's about hope and the future and a new baby."
The smile-free "Miss USA" spread appears to be part of Yeezy's long-term but so far unsuccessful plan to turn Kim from B-list reality star to A-list fashion plate, one worthy of a nod of approval from the likes of style overlord Anna Wintour.
"This is not something for a gossip magazine that goes into the trash," explains Roitfeld. "This is a magazine that is a collector's item."
