George Clooney won't have a brand-spankin'-new hottie on his arm at the upcoming Venice Film Festival. The A-lister made a pre-emptive strike against reports out of Italy alleging that he's already replaced Elisabetta Canalis, whom he ditched last month after two years of togetherness.
"The Italian press, from Corriere Della Sera to TGCOM, Ansa, NewNotizie, Sky.it and even Vanity Fair are all running a story that quotes me as saying that I’m bringing a 'new girl' to the Venice Film Festival," the A-lister kvetches in a statement (via Gossip Cop). "I never made that statement, and it's not true. It was made up to sell tabloid magazines. It's a ridiculous lie and should be corrected as publicly as it was originally written."
George, whose directorial effort "Ides of March" will open this year's festival, made his red-carpet debut with Elisabetta at the 2009 fest.
