  • Jenny McCarthy is trying to make things right. The TV personality recently admitted in a blog post titled "Anti-Gossip Girl" that she regrets joking about former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's sexuality during an episode of "The View" on July 22.

"Something happened last week that made me wake up and consider how I should be more mindful of my jokes. It's one thing to say something 'funny,' but then to turn around and be a hypocrite is another thing," the 41-year-old wrote.

McCarthy made the offhand remark about Clinton when she and the other co-hosts were discussing a claim that former President Bill Clinton had a "mistress," whom the Secret Service nicknamed "Energizer."

"Well, maybe he has his girlfriends, and she has her girlfriends. You never know. Maybe they have an arrangement," McCarthy suggested at the time.

Later in the episode, the hosts talked about a "female CEO not helping other women in her workplace and my spiritual side felt excited to get out my personal mission statement about 'girl code,'" McCarthy continued in her blog. "I stated that we women need to look out for one another. That we need to stop ripping on each other and empower one another. This is something that is very important to me and I hold so close to my heart."

"That night, as I lay in bed and reflected on my day, I realized I was a hypocrite. How could I make a joke like that and then five minutes later preach about female empowerment?" the comedian wrote. "It makes me sad when I see women ripping on other women, and there I was making a joke about our possible first female president!"

McCarthy noted in her blog post that she hopes to be "an example of female empowerment" in the future. The former Playboy model -- who announced her exit from the ABC daytime talk show late last month -- is set to host a weekly one-hour show on SirisuXM following her exit.
