Kim Kardashian's Family Shares Pictures Of North West's 'Kidchella' 1st Birthday
Looks like a pretty big party for such a little girl! Kim Kardashian and Kanye West went all out for daughter North West's first birthday, throwing her a Kidchella-themed bash complete with a ferris wheel and face-painting. It sounds epic -- and thanks to the couple's famous family, there are plenty of pictures of the festivities online!
Held in Kim's sister Kourtney's huge backyard on June 21, the party was modeled after California's annual Coachella music festival, and featured a stage where friends and family members could lip sync to hit songs. Kardashian matriarch Kris Jenner shared a few videos of the performances, including two by daughters Kendall and Kylie Jenner, who rocked out to Rihanna's "We Found Love" and West's "Good Life."
In keeping with the theme, guests were asked to dress in typical festival attire. For Kylie, that meant a denim dress under a gauzy poncho; for Kendall, floral-print shorts and a cropped gray T-shirt. Sister Khloe, meanwhile, posed in a traditional Native American headdress, and shared a photo of herself meditating near a pint-sized tipi.
"Ray of clouds. Chirping of birds. Gurgling of water. Granting desire. One with water. #Kidchella, my first Coachella!!!" she captioned the picture, which Instagram commenters slammed as "disrespectful" to Native American culture.
That controversy aside, the party seems to have been a big success. In addition to the ferris wheel, there was a big bounce house for kids, as well as various food stands for lemonade, sno-cones, funnel cake, churros, and cotton candy.
"Kim was holding North a lot of the time, and the party seemed to be geared towards a little bit older kids," an eyewitness tells Us Weekly. "But it was a family party with all ages, and no matter what age they were, they were having a great time. There was so much to do."
Baby North actually turned 12 months old on Father's Day, June 15.
