Kirstie was born to Robert and Lillian Alley of Wichita, Kan., on Jan. 12, 1951. At age 19, she dropped out of Kansas State University, where she was studying drama, to marry high school sweetheart Bob Alley. She began doing cocaine and quickly became addicted. Kirstie and Bob divorced seven years later. In 1980, Kirstie decided to enroll in Narconon, the Scientology rehab program in Los Angeles to kick her three-year addiction to cocaine after reading L. Ron Hubbard's Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health.
