Nurses, single moms, vampires take top nods at People's Choice Awards

Awards season kicks off tonight with the People's Choice Awards, hosted by Queen Latifah. The show will be broadcast live on CBS at 6PM PST/ 9PM EST and promises to be a star-studded event.

Nominees for the People's Choice Awards were released last mnth and over 60 million people have voted, which is a record for the show.

Nominees include NBC nurse drama "Mercy," "Three Rivers" and "The Vampire Diaries" in the New TV drama category, while the New TV comedy category pits Jenna Elfman sitcom "Accidentally on Purpose" against "Brothers" and "Community."

"Twilight" is up for favorite movie, franchise and on-screen team for its trio of stars: Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. Stewart and Pattinson were also nominated individually for favorite movie actress and actor, and Lautner is up for breakout movie actor.

"True Blood" was nominated for favorite TV obsession and sci-fi/fantasy TV show, plus star Anna Paquin earned a nod for TV drama actress.
