January Jones on Single Motherhood: 'I Don't Want to Be Pitied'
Somehow, January Jones beat the Hollywood gossip machine and kept the identity of her now 1-year-old son, Xander to herself. But she's still getting blowback about a few things related to his arrival. For one, the fact that she consumed the placenta for nutritional purposes has been kinda tough to live down. "I should never have told anyone about that. But it's not gross or witchcrafty. Nor am I putting it in a shake or eating it raw," she tells Glamour UK. "It's a very civilized thing that can help women with depression or fatigue. I was never depressed or sad or down after the baby was born, so I'd highly suggest it to any pregnant woman." (Holly Madison recently revealed she also planned to consume her placenta, in pill form after she gives birth.)
The other thorn in January's side is the world's reaction to her one-parent household. "People keep saying, 'Oh, poor you, being a single mom.' But I don't want to be pitied," January gripes about her sympathy-givers, who apparently don't know she rakes in $100,000 per "Mad Men" episode. "I can do anything I want to do. I work, I date, I have friends. I have time for everything I had time for before. I just have an added amazing thing in my life." (Celebitchy)
