Khloe Kardashian reflects on an emotional year of change and self-work
As 2019 comes to a close, Khloe Kardashian appears to be reflecting on what's been an emotional year. She shared another handful of vaguely cryptic quotes on her Instagram Story on Thursday, Dec. 12, and as People points out, they seem to reference her split from Tristan Thompson as well as the work she did to heal herself and set new boundaries for those in her life after he cheated. "A woman who knows what it's like to be broken, took her time to heal herself and succeeded at rebuilding her peace and happiness all by herself has every right to be picky about who she allows into her life," one of the quotes said. "Damn," another began. "This year held some of the happiest and saddest moments I've ever experienced." The third read, "You glow different when you're not hating, hurting, bitter or messy." Although Khloe and Tristan have continued to co-parent their daughter, True Thompson, since Khloe ended things in February following allegations Tristan cheated with then-family friend, Jordy Woods, insiders have told People the reality star has no intention of resuming a romantic relationship with her ex, no matter how much he seems to want that. "Tristan is very charming and sweet to Khloé," a source told the outlet. "She always wanted to keep her family together because of True. Splitting from Tristan in the past was extremely difficult for her. She is flattered that he is trying to win her back, but not flattered enough to be in a romantic relationship with him."

Ellen DeGeneres is still trying to get Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani engaged
Ellen DeGeneres isn't giving up her push for Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton to say "I do." earlier this month, the host teased Gwen about engagement rumors when she was on "Ellen," and Gwen promptly dismissed them. On Friday, Dec. 13, Gwen's beau, Blake stopped by the show and Ellen made it clear she's not done trying to play matchmaker. "I gave you a clock. Remember that clock? To remind you time is ticking," she told Blake (via ET). Blake joked that someone "took it" backstage. "So I haven't seen it. Time didn't really start ticking at that moment," he challenged. "Whoever your next guest was you replaced the picture and did the same crap to them and embarrassed them." Not one to be outdone, Ellen had the perfect reply: "You're right. We did that to Jennifer Lopez and now she's engaged." Before the end of his appearance, Ellen suggested that Blake guest-host the show sometime — because, hey! He could have Gwen on as a guest! And guess what he could do right in front of the studio audience?! That's when Blake played along and promised to "save" the proposal for that day.

Christina Anstead explains why her 3-month-old son has been the 'hardest'baby of all her kids
Christina Anstead is still working out a good rhythm when it comes to Hudson, the son she welcomed in September with her new husband Ant Anstead. "He still really just likes being in the house. He doesn't like going out," Christina told Us Weekly on Thursday, Dec. 12. "As a very busy family, that's been very difficult. But since he hit the 3-month mark, he's been doing a lot better. A lot more smiles and coos and sleeping better, so I think we're on the right track." On the plus side, she said his middle-of-the-night wake-ups have at least been as scheduled and things have "gotten a lot easier" when it comes to spending time with her other kids, Taylor, 9, and Brayden, 3, and her ex, Tarek El Moussa. "The kids love seeing us sit together and that's what's important," she said of Tarek, who remains her "Flip or Flop" cohost. Season 2 of "Christina on the Coast" hits HGTV Jan. 2.

Selena Gomez reveals title, release date and tracks for new album, 'Rare'
Less than a month after admitting she was probably "confusing" her record label by continually hanging out at the studio, Selena Gomez seems to have nailed down the final artwork and tracklisting for her new album. She announced the new details about the recording this week on Instagram, sharing a video that revealed its title — "Rare" and release date. "Can't believe I'm revealing the art and title for my new album RARE, out January 10th. It's the most honest music I've ever made and I can't wait for you to hear my heart. 🖤 You can preorder RARE now ✨," she told fans. According to the video, the album includes the singles, "Look at Her Now" and "Lose You to Love Me," plus new tracks that she also shares bits from in the clip. The tracklisting appears to be as follows: "Rare," "Dance Again," "Ring," "Vulnerable," "People You Know," "Let Me Get Me," "Crowded Room" (feat. 6LACK), "Kinda Crazy," "Fun," "Cut You Off," and "A Sweeter Place" (feat. Kid Cudi). It's her first LP release since 2015's "Revival."
Kesha shares the inspirations behind her first beauty line
Kesha's gearing up to release a new LP, too — her fourth, "High Road," is due out Jan. 31. In the meantime, the singer's promoting her new Kesha Rose Beauty line, which arrived Friday, Dec. 13 and marks her first celebrity beauty venture, though she says she's "kind of hesitant to call it" that. Speaking to People, Kesha explained her collection is "not about any sort of ideal or anyone else's view of what beauty is." Instead, she says the line is about making the person wearing the makeup "happy." It's also inspired largely by David Bowie's love of androgynous looks and bright colors — and his refusal to be defined by others. As for her own self-care beyond beauty, Kesha says now that she's "done the hard work" and therapy she needed five years ago, she feels like she's finally "living in that rainbow," and she wants the same for her fans. "I want people to just have fun and feel good and have it not be dependent on any external ideas or philosophies or anything that satisfies anyone except for themselves," she explains.
Olivia Wilde defends her portrayal of Kathy Scruggs in 'Richard Jewell'
Olivia Wilde has elaborated on comments she made in a recent Variety interview regarding the portrayal of journalist Kathy Scruggs, whom she plays in the new film, "Richard Jewell." Based on a true story, the movie follows Kathy's work at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution where she broke a story about the FBI's investigation of a security guard who reported having seen a pipe bomb before the 1996 Centennial Olympic Park bombing. The security guard was eventually proven innocent and Eric Rudolph confessed to have been responsible and is serving life in prison, CNN has reported. The newspaper, however, has complained that the movie makes it appear as if Olivia's character got tips for sex because of exploitative treatment at the paper. The paper has denied these claims, while Warner Bros., stands by its movie, according to CNN. "I was asked to play the supporting role of Kathy Scruggs, who was, by all accounts, bold, smart, and fearlessly undeterred by the challenge of being a female reporter in the south in the 1990s. I cannot even contemplate the amount of sexism she may have faced in the way of duty," Olivia tweeted this week. "Contrary to a swath of recent headlines, I do not believe that Kathy 'traded sex for tips.' Nothing in my research suggested she did so, and it was never my intention to suggest she had. That would be an appalling and misogynistic dismissal of the difficult work she did." She continued: "The perspective of the fictional dramatization of the story, as I understood it, was that Kathy, and the FBI agent who leaked false information to her, were in a pre-existing romantic relationship, not a transactional exchange of sex for information." Finally, she wrote:"I cannot speak for the creative decisions made by the filmmakers, as I did not have a say in how the film was ultimately crafted, but it's important to me that I share my personal take on the matter."
Russell Simmons shares open letter to Oprah Winfrey ahead of her documentary on sexual assault in the music industry
Oprah Winfrey's forthcoming documentary about sexual assault in the music industry isn't due out until next year but it's already ruffling feathers, to say the least. On Instagram on Friday, Dec. 13 (via E! News), Russell Simmons wrote a long diatribe addressed "dearest Oprah," in which he thanked her for being "a shining light to my family and my community," then said that's why "it's so troubling" that she would "choose me to single out" in the film. Citing his previous acknowledgment that he was "a playboy (appropriately titled today 'womanizer')" when he was younger, Russell then lists lie detector tests and other reasons why his claims that he is not guilty of sexual assault or rape should be believed. "Now that you have reviewed the facts and you SHOULD have learned what I know; that these stories are UNUSABLE and that 'hurt people hurt people,'" he wrote. "Today I received a call from an old girlfriend from the early 1980s, which means that they are using my words/evidence against me …" He goes on to say: "It is impossible to prove what happened 40 years ago, but in my case proof exists of what didn't happen, mostly signed letters from their own parents, siblings, roommates, band members, interns, and in the case of two of your three accusers, their own words in their books," then suggests she call the doc, "FLAVOR OF LOVE." Before signing off from the long post, he says he has been "guilty of exploiting, supporting, and making the soundtrack for a grossly unequal society;" but maintains he has "never been violent or forced myself on anyone." He concludes: "Still I am here to help support a necessary shift in power and consciousness. Let us get to work on uplifting humanity and put this moment and old narrative behind." The doc is due out in 2020 on Apple TV+.
Amanda Bynes spotted leaving a courthouse with her parents
Amanda Bynes is reportedly out of the sober living facility where she had been living and is now staying with her parents as she looks for her own place, which could explain why she was back on Instagram this week sharing a rare selfie. ET reports Amanda and her folks left a hearing in Ventura Country on Thursday, Dec. 12, where they discussed her new living arrangement plan. "She has a great relationship with [her parents]," a source tells the outlet, adding that she recently earned her associate's degree from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles and was taking additional courses there but is now taking a break from school. As of her June graduation, she was reportedly "in a good place" with her sobriety.
Harvey Weinstein's walker use raises eyebrows
A new report from Page Six questions Harvey Weinstein's use of a walker at his recent hearing. The tab claims a source saw the former producer "shuffling into a meeting with a potentially hostile group and using a walker for support" recently, then, "a few days later," walking into a Target near NewYork's Hudson Valley "without any support whatsoever." No dates are given by the paper for those sightings. This week, he entered a courtroom in New York City leaning on the walker again, leading the Post's source to suspect he was "using it for sympathy" ahead of his back surgery the next day. He reportedly spent a night in the hospital. A rep for Weinstein said he only used the walker at his hearing at the insistence of his legal team, noting that he was afraid it would look like a sympathy grab. The hearing resulted in an increase in his bond due to nearly 60 violations of his ankle monitor use ahead of his sexual assault trial, which begins next month.
In which Lizzo makes Niall Horan blush …
In the interest of ending the week with something inspirational, we give you Lizzo's brush with Niall Horan. According to Niall (via JustJared), who shared the anecdote during his appearance on "The Tonight Show" on Thursday, Dec. 12, it went like this: He was in London for a radio performance in the same studio where she was scheduled for an interview. Someone in his entourage exclaimed that she was on site and "would love" to meet him. "We're passing in the corridor, I was like, 'Ah! Lovely to meet you!' Gave her a big hug. 'Your voice is incredible. Your songs are amazing. You're absolutely smashing it,'" Niall recalled. "And literally, without missing a beat, she just went, 'You can smash this!'" Niall clapped even at retelling the story — and admitted it made him blush.
