According to author
Robert Hardman,
Prince William is far less religious than King Charles III. "In royal circles, it is no secret that he does not share the King's sense of the spiritual, let alone the late
Queen [Elizabeth II]'s unshakeable devotion to the Anglican church," he wrote in his book
The Making of a King: King Charles III and the Modern Monarchy via

When
Prince William takes over for King Charles III, he'll become the Supreme Governor of the Church of England. "[William's] father is very spiritual and happy to talk about faith, but the prince is not. He doesn't go to church every Sunday, but then nor do the large majority of the country," Robert Hardman wrote. "He might go at Christmas and Easter, but that's it. He very much respects the institutions, but he is not instinctively comfortable in a faith environment."

King Charles III has made a major effort to ensure different cultures are represented within the church. "He gets it. He gets the people he is head of state for," a guest at the service at Westminster Abbey and the executive director of the British Asian Trust,
Hitan Mehta, told
People. "I think he is a person who understands the United Kingdom and the diversity of this nation. He also understands the challenges in front of people here in the U.K. The diversity was evident from the young people who have been on charitable programs through to global megastars. I met people from all over the country and from all communities. There was a lovely feeling."

While
Prince William isn't king yet, King Charles III is preparing him to take the reins. "Charles, it seems, has all but handed over the crown. He would prefer, as is his constitution, not to be embroiled in these messes, even as they pose existential threats to the future of the monarchy. William clearly has no such squeamishness," royal commentator
Maureen Callahan told
Daily Mail.
