According to
a report, King Charles III began assembling the 2,000-panel facility on the grounds of Sandringham in 2024. Amid the sunny summer months, the solar energy farm is linked to the main house on the property and the rest of the buildings. It churns out a combined total of 2.1MW of zero carbon energy to the larger home, the visitor center and the sawmill.

The solar farm is located on a former horse-grazing paddock behind the main house on the estate. The structure is made of toughened glass panels and is outlined by steel framework. The facility has an "operational lifespan of 40 years," after which it will go back to a holding space for animals.

King Charles III has long been an environmental advocate, dating all the way back to when he gave
a speech on sustainability in 1970. His Majesty has also been a proponent of organic farming and even launched the Sustainable Markets Initiative in 2020. "We've got to come together as a world on this," Charles said of the project. "I feel very strongly that we have to develop an approach which by putting nature at the center of the whole process, what profit we make, we have to also make a profit for nature by putting something back. So that my and your children and grandchild can have some kind of reasonable future."
