Prior to the memoir's release, it was revealed Prince Andrew's titles will be dropped."In discussion with The King, and my immediate and wider family, we have concluded the continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the royal family," Prince Andrew said in a statement after Virginia Giuffre's posthumous memoir shared new details about her alleged assault.

"I will therefore no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me," Prince Andrew continued. "As I have said previously, I vigorously deny the accusations against me."_
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said Queen Elizabeth II would've hoped for a different outcome for Prince Andrew."She would indeed have been deeply saddened by his disgrace. "It is now obvious that Andrew and Sarah Ferguson used their public positions for their personal advantage," Richard Fitzwilliams continued. "His association with the dukedom of York and subsequent disgrace will make it synonymous with notoriety. If she knew, Queen Elizabeth would be deeply grieved."While Ferguson and Andrew no longer have HRH status, the former couple often profited from their Duke and Duchess of York titles.

Queen Elizabeth II, who had four children, was especially close with Prince Andrew."Queen Elizabeth was young and learning her duties when Prince Charles and Princess Anne were growing up and she could not see as much of them as she would have wished," Richard Fitzwilliams said. "When Prince Andrew was born, considerably later, in 1960, she was able to spend more time with him and thus grew especially fond of him."
