It's the end of the road for Angie Miller. The 19-year-old Massachusetts native was eliminated during the May 9 episode of American Idol, with Candice Glover and Kree Harrison advancing to next week's finals.
Miller performed covers of Elton John's "Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word," Pink's "Try" and Emeli Sande's "Maybe" during the May 8 episode, earning rave reviews from all four judges. "I'm not going to lie, it was a little shocking," she told Us Weekly after getting the boot. "But it was a good kind of shocking because I know that this is just the start. It's bitter and sweet."
She added, "I definitely thought that with the whole hometown visit and how huge social media has been . . . I did feel kind of confident that I was going to make it."
After host Ryan Seacrest delivered the devastating news, Miller got a chance to speak with judges Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban and Randy Jackson. "They all pretty much said, 'Girl, this is not over! You're still going to do incredible things.' Coming from them, that means everything," the aspiring singer said.
Miller added that she isn't sure whether Glover or Harrison will win the competition. "They are both incredible. They are amazing. I don't know," she said. "I just know that I'm excited to sing in finale next week and for the tour."
Glover told Us she was "still in a daze" after being placed in the top two. "I was definitely shocked about Angie. I went through this whole thing like, 'You know, Angie is going to win it. Angie's going to win.' Angie has an amazing voice. Angie has the personality. . . I'm going to miss her so much because she brought the sunshine," she said of her former competitor. "I love her so much. She's taught me how to be more energetic and more into it."
