Whew, that was close! Courtney Love may occasionally be at odds with her daughter Frances Bean Cobain, but the rock singer's maternal instincts are still on-point sometimes when it comes to Cobain's career. The former Hole singer (she is currently pursuing a solo career using her own moniker) opened up to Howard Stern on his show on Thursday, May 30, and revealed that Cobain had the chance to be a part of a multi-million dollar movie franchise -- but thankfully turned it down.
"When [Frances Bean] was 13 she was offered Twilight -- she was offered [the role of] Bella in Twilight," she told Stern on his talk show. "That's a true story."
When the radio shock jock expressed surprise at the revelation, asking Love, 48, how that connection had happened. she explained that Cobain, 20, was actually approached by people involved with the franchise, not vice versa.
"Someone just saw a picture of her in a magazine and sent me the script for Twilight and she was like, 'That's a sexist, Mormon piece of sh-t!'" Love recalled of Cobain's reaction to the incident. "She was 13! It would have destroyed her life."
Cobain, who is the daughter of Love and late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, is instead making a name for herself as an artist and model. Earlier this month, the rock star offspring made headlines when she attacked reality star Kendall Jenner on Twitter after Jenner tweeted: "Just wish things could be easier sometimes mann" (the tweet has since been deleted.)
"Oh shh. There are kids on earth abandoned & homeless who forcibly drink contaminated water because clean water isn't accessible," Cobain sniped at Jenner, 17. "Oh ya, not to mention, CANCER, famine, poverty, draught, disease, natural disasters, Death. F--k, Humans are so self involved … I'd like to thank my parents for providing me with a high IQ & I'd like to thank my grams for encouraging me not to be a self absorbed idiot."
Cobain and Love have famously butted heads in the past, but the pair are now on much better terms, Love told Stern on Thursday.
"I'm really good with my daughter now, we're really good," she said, adding that they keep in touch via email "and we tweet, too."
