NEW YORK (AP) -- Tom Cruise says he'd try film directing if he weren't so busy with a different kind of off-camera project: fatherhood.

Besides, says Cruise on the upcoming edition of AMC's "Storymakers," he's already having lots of fun as an actor.

Cruise, Cameron Diaz, Judd Apatow (AHP'-uh-toe) and Nick Cassavetes (cass-uh-VET'-eez) will talk about movies and more on this prime-time special, which airs Friday.

Diaz stars in the upcoming movie "My Sister's Keeper," directed by Cassavetes. Apatow is writer, director and producer of the new film "Funny People," starring Adam Sandler.

AMC is owned by Rainbow Media Holdings LLC, a subsidiary of Cablevision Systems Corp.
