Double the party! "Star Wars" creator George Lucas celebrated his June 22 nuptials to businesswoman Mellody Hobson with another star-studded party on Saturday, June 29, at the Promontory Point in Chicago.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, guests including Prince, Robin Williams, Mark Hamill, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Al Roker, Gayle King, Jesse Jackson, Hayden Christensen, Rachel Bilson and Ne-Yo were among those in attendance for the once-in-a-lifetime bash.
The site reports that Prince performed with a 22-piece band under a huge tent, which was set up in the Hyde Park neighborhood. In a previous report by DNAInfo Chicago, crews reportedly built the 100,000 air-conditioned tent to cover a newly-constructed platform, as well as a $60,000 lighting rig. The platform was reportedly going to be torn down July 4, and the couple's lavish affair required special permits to raise the temporary structure at the park.
As Us Weekly reported on June 25, Lucas, 69 and Hobson, 44, a Chicago native, wed at Skywalker Ranch in Marin County, Calif., on Saturday, June 22. According to a source, 200 guests including Oprah Winfrey, Robert De Niro, Glenn Close, Harrison Ford, Calista Flockhart, Quincy Jones and Rashida Jones were present.
The pair announced their engagement in January following a seven-year courtship. The "Indiana Jones" creator was previously wed to film editor Marcia Griffin from 1969 to 1983.
