The ongoing saga that is the mercurial engagement of Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth has a salacious new chapter. Us Weekly claims the Aussie actor has been sending "graphic" text messages to January Jones, whom he was first accused of cozying up to during a pre-Oscars bash in February (fueling the rumors: They were photographed together in the backseat of a car).

But Hemsworth's rep adamantly denies that he's been "clandestinely" reaching out to Jones.

"The story of Liam Hemsworth and January Jones is entirely fabricated by Us Weekly," the spokesman asserts in a statement. "There is no truth whatsoever to this tabloid fiction."

According to the tab, the "Mad Men" actress, 35, has been consoling Hemsworth, 23, over Miley's makeover from wholesome Disney darling to "wild child." Her rep denies this is the case.

Either way, things aren't looking good for the couple's on-again, off-again four-year romance.

"Liam and Miley haven't officially split, but it's over," adds an Us source. "It's just that neither wants to pull the trigger."

What's more, shares the spy, "Miley doesn't want to believe there could be anyone else."

Hemsworth popped the question on May 31, 2012, following two breakups with the 20-year-old twerk enthusiast, both in 2010. The pair's last public appearance was a chilly one at the Los Angeles premiere of Liam's box office bomb "Paranoia" on Aug. 8.

"Friends and family are encouraging them to split up and move on," an insider tells People. "They are arguing nonstop and seem to care less and less about their relationship. … Both know it will never work out."
