People Magazine reports that Jessica Simpson has urged her fans to "stay positive" as she endures a media firestorm over her weight. In her first performance since "high-waisted-pantsgate" Simpson addressed the audience at Virginia's John Paul Jones arena, saying: "Please remember, no matter what you go through in life, somebody else might have it harder." She also complained about the media's lack of priorities saying, "I feel like in our world today we focus on so many things that are completely pointless."
People then quotes UVA freshman, and budding underminer, Laura Tiezzi who -- after taking in Simpson's wise words and carefully digesting their message -- observed: "She's obviously comfortable with herself to wear those leather pants." (People)
