Doh! Looks like social networks can get you intro big trouble if you're a member of the press.

The Twitterverse went bonkers last night after 'Nightline's' Terry Moran Tweeted that President Obama called Kanye West's VMA outburst a "jackass" move.

Apparently the comment came from an off-the-record portion of an interview the President was doing with CNBC. He was overheard saying that he thought Kanye acted like a "jackass" at the awards show.

So, in other words the President has the same opinion most of us do about the situation.

Moran first reported it to his Twitter followers, saying: "Pres. Obama just called Kanye West a 'jackass' for his outburst at VMAs when Taylor Swift won. Now THAT'S presidential," he wrote. He quickly took it down, but not before many of his one million users retweeted it and took screenshots.

Complaints swarmed in to ABC and prompted a rep for the network to issue a statement to Politico, saying Moran: "prematurely tweeted a portion of those remarks that turned out to be from an off-the-record portion of the interview. That was wrong, we apologize to the White House and CNBC and are taking steps to ensure that it will not happen again."

West has since apologized numerous times for stealng the mic from Taylor Swift as she tried to give her acceptance speech at the VMAs.

O.K., we all know West acted like a jackass, can we all get on with our lives now?
