'80s TV stars: Where are they now?

Ever wonder what happened to your favorite '80s TV stars? We sure do! In honor of Soleil Moon Frye's 40th birthday on Aug. 6, 2016, Wonderwall.com is taking a walk down memory lane to catch up with the "Punky Brewster" star and more of the actors and actresses who shot into the spotlight back when Ronald Reagan was President, an up-and-coming singer named Madonna had just started making waves and permed hairdos were all the rage. Let's start with Soleil: In the years since she outgrew her mismatched sneakers, bright bandanas and pigtails, the former child actress has starred on "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch" and directed two films. She wed "Punk'd" producer Jason Goldberg in 1998. They now have four children: daughters Poet and Jagger and sons Lyric and Story, who was born in May 2016. Soleil, who still occasionally works as a voice actress, also found a second calling as an entrepreneur. She co-founded The Little Seed, a Los Angeles-based lifestyle brand of eco-friendly products for babies and kids.

Kim Fields is best known for her her role as Dorothy "Tootie" Ramsey on the hit NBC show "The Facts of Life," which was one of the longest-running sitcoms of the decade. After nine years on the series, the work kept on coming for Kim, who scored parts on TV movies and comedies including "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air." She also starred in the 2012 rom-com "What to Expect When You're Expecting." In 2015, Kim tried her hand at reality television and landed a spot on "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" — but she only lasted one season, which freed her up to put her best foot forward on Season 22 of "Dancing With the Stars" in 2016. Kim gave birth to her first child, Sebastian, in May 2007. She and her beau, Broadway actor Christopher Morgan, married two-and-a-half months later. The couple welcomed a second son, Quincy, in December 2013.

It's been nearly three decades since Neil Patrick Harris first starred as teen medical prodigy Doogie Howser. The erstwhile M.D. is now both a heavyweight in Hollywood and on Broadway — and he's a family man as well. Neil went on to star in another hit sitcom, "How I Met Your Mother," which ran for nine years. The popular show ended in 2014, the same year he starred on the big screen in "A Million Ways to Die in the West" and "Gone Girl." He's also hosted the Tony Awards four times, first in 2009 before he was brought back in 2011 for three consecutive years. Neil and partner David Burtka became fathers to twins Gideon and Harper in October 2010 and announced their engagement after New York passed the Marriage Equality Act in June 2011. They wed in Italy in September 2014.

After starring on "Gimme a Break!" in the '80s, Joey Lawrence became a family sitcom regular ("Blossom," anyone?). But one of his most shocking roles wasn't on-screen. Joey, whose ABC Family series "Melissa & Joey" ended in August 2015 after a five-year run, briefly joined the Chippendales dancers in Las Vegas back in 2012. For a limited time, Joey was baring all with the legendary male stripper troupe! In 2013, he co-hosted the diving reality show "Splash" and in 2016, he was the runner-up on the Food Network's "Cupcake Wars." Joey has two daughters with his second wife, Chandie Yawn-Nelson.

Following the success of "Magnum, P.I." in the '80s, Tom Selleck landed roles on several television series and, of course, played Monica's physician beau, Richard, on "Friends." He currently stars on the police drama "Blue Bloods." He has two grown children and has been married to his second wife, Jillie Mack, for almost 29 years. Plus, he's still rocking that iconic 'stache — despite going a little gray. Tom's also an NRA public spokesman and board member who's described himself as a libertarian-leaning independent.

Erin Moran has seen happier days. According to TMZ, the actress — who played Joanie Cunningham on sitcom "Happy Days" and its spin-off "Joanie Loves Chachi" — was evicted from her California house after it was foreclosed on in 2010, leading her and her husband to move into her mother-in-law's Indiana trailer home. Erin claimed they moved to take care of her ailing in-law, but any money problems she may have had were helped a little bit when five castmembers of "Happy Days" settled a lawsuit with CBS in July 2012 that saw each of them receive around $65,000 plus future royalties. In 2013, there were reports she would reunite with her "Happy Days" co-stars Henry Winkler, Ron Howard and Scott Baio on "Arrested Development." But alas, she never ended up starring on the revamped Netflix show.

During the '80s, Scott Baio was a teen heartthrob on top of the world. But after stealing hearts in "Joanie Loves Chachi" and "Charles in Charge," his star plateaued. He appeared in various shows and movies until 2006, when he starred on his own VH1 reality show, "Scott Baio Is 45 … and Single." In 2007, he married Renee Sloan shortly after she gave birth to their daughter, Bailey (Renee, who was initially pregnant with twins, sadly lost one of the babies at 11 weeks). He continued to star on reality TV on spin-off shows "Scott Baio Is 46 … and Pregnant" and "Scott Baio Is 47 and a Dad." But in June 2015, the family was hit by fresh heartache after Renee was diagnosed with a brain tumor.

These days "Silver Spoons" cutie Ricky Schroder is married to interior designer Andrea Bernard and has four kids of his own. From "NYPD Blue" to "24," Ricky hasn't had trouble finding TV work since his days as a child star, and he's even given writing and directing a go. He's also taken breaks from Hollywood to enjoy the fruits of his labor: In 2009, Rick and his brood moved to Spain for a year to give the family a little international perspective. He also has his own production company, Ricky Schroder Productions, which produced the movie "Our Wild Hearts" in 2013. Its stars? Rick and daughter Cambrie!

What happened to Winnie Cooper from "The Wonder Years"? Well, she grew up! After earning a college degree in mathematics and co-authoring a ground-breaking mathematical physics theorem, Danica McKellar stripped down for Maxim in 2010. Since her days as Kevin Arnold's crush-turned-girlfriend, Danica has written four best-selling books encouraging girls to enjoy and succeed at math. In June 2012, she and her husband, composer Mike Verta, filed for divorce. The two share custody of their young son, Draco. In November 2014, Danica married lawyer Scott Sveslosky in Hawaii. In recent years, she's competed on "Dancing With the Stars" and starred in several made-for-TV movies.

Malcolm-Jamal Warner has starred on and directed various TV series since "The Cosby Show" finished its run, and he played Dr. Alex Reed on BET's "Reed Between the Lines." Malcolm remained close with his "Cosby" co-star and former girlfriend Michelle Thomas after the show ended, and when cancer took her life at 30, he was at her bedside. He went on to date Regina King, but the relationship ended in 2013 after he reportedly dumped her on Valentine's Day. But the wounds appeared to have healed somewhat as two years later, he congratulated Regina on her Emmy win for her performance on "American Crime."

During the final seasons of "Growing Pains," instead of growing up, Carol Seaver — played by Tracey Gold — visibly shrank. The then-19-year-old actress was dangerously underweight, reaching 80 pounds at her rock bottom. Anorexia hospitalized Tracey in 1992, and the actress spent her early 20s fighting — and recovering from — the disease, all while in the public eye. Today, Tracey's been married for nearly 22 years and is a mother of four, but her adulthood hasn't been drama-free. In 2004, she was arrested on DUI charges after crashing her SUV while driving her husband and three kids. In 2011, Tracey put anorexia in the spotlight again as the host of "Starving Secrets," a reality show chronicling 10 women with eating disorders as they progressed through eight months of treatment. In 2013, she made a guest appearance on the ABC Family show "Melissa & Joey."

Following "My Two Dads," Staci Keanan hopped onto another hit show, the '90s sitcom "Step by Step." After the series wrapped in '98, Staci's acting took a backseat to her college education as she enrolled at UCLA to study art history. She returned to acting in 2010 and her credits include the thriller "Death and Cremation."

Following his turn on '80s classic "The Dukes of Hazzard," John Schneider's next big break was playing Superman's adoptive dad on "Smallville" from 2001 to 2011. Over the years he's also tried his hand at writing, producing and directing, and after 10 albums, he still hasn't quit crooning that country music. Most recently, he released a duets album, "Home For Christmas," with his former co-star Tom Wopat from "The Dukes Of Hazzard." John and second wife Elly — who split in 2014 after more than two decades of marriage — have three kids, and he's an active voice for animal rights.

While he's appeared in various sitcoms and movies since the '80s, in 1999, "Perfect Strangers" star Bronson Pinchot discovered a new passion. The actor fell in love with the tiny historical village of Hartford, Pennsylvania, where he spent more than a decade restoring homes. In 2012, he turned the pastime into a show on the DIY Network titled "The Bronson Pinchot Project." In 2015, he starred on a couple episodes of Showtime's buzzy drama "Ray Donovan." And let's not forget his voice! Bronson is also an audiobook narrator with more than 100 recording credits.

Jason Bateman's big sis Justine Bateman is best known for playing Mallory Keaton on "Family Ties," but she's been consistently starring on TV shows ever since. She appeared as Ellie Leonard on "Desperate Housewives" and in 2007 opened a digital production and consulting company called SECTION 5. Justine also went back to school: She started her freshman year as a full-time student at UCLA in the fall of 2012. She also managed to squeeze in a guest appearance on "Modern Family" back in 2013.

Emmanuel Lewis hasn't done much acting since his days in the title role on '80s sitcom "Webster," but in 2007, he made a cameo in "Kickin' It Old Skool" and was a cast member on the reality series "The Surreal Life." After failing to pay taxes from 2007 to 2010, he found himself $44,081 in debt. Unfortunately for Emmanuel, he couldn't gather enough money to pay off his bills. His Georgia home went into foreclosure in September 2011, eventually selling for $56,000.

Since her eight-year run on "Dynasty," Joan Collins has appeared in various TV series and movies. While her subsequent acting career has never surpassed her '80s glory, Joan has kept busy. In February 2002, she married fifth husband Percy Gibson, a theatrical company manager who's 32 years her junior. Joan is also a best-selling author of novels, lifestyle books and memoirs and has devoted herself to various causes including breast cancer research and child abuse prevention. Joan lost her younger sister, famed romance novelist Jackie Collins, to breast cancer in September 2015. Most recently, Joan had a recurring role in the E! drama "The Royals" as the quick-witted mother of Queen Helena, who's played by Elizabeth Hurley.

Since leaving "Cheers," Shelley Long's acting career hasn't touched her '80s glory days. She and her second husband divorced in 2004; later that year, she was rushed to the hospital after an overdose of painkillers. But the actress, who has a daughter and stepson, seems to have rebounded, and in the past few years has guest-starred on various hit shows including "Modern Family" and appeared in TV movies and independent films.

Charlene Tilton reprised her role as Lucy Ewing on the 2012 remake of "Dallas," 21 years after the original hit series ended. In recent years, she's also scored some small roles in films including 2013's "Lucky Dog" and 2014's "Not Another Celebrity Movie." Charlene was left devastated when her "Dallas" co-star Larry Hagman died of a cancer-related illness in 2012. Following his death, she described him as "the father figure that I so needed and longed for." Having grown up with an absent father and a mentally ill mother, Charlene spent spells of her childhood in the foster care system. In June 2015, she performed at a benefit in New York to help raise awareness about foster kids.

Since handing in his badge in 1990, "21 Jump Street" star Dustin Nguyen has consistently worked in television and film. In 2014, he scored a cameo in "22 Jump Street," the sequel to the big-screen version of his old show. Most recently, he appeared in the 2015 action movie "Zero Tolerance," where he met his now-wife, Vietnamese model and actress Bebe Pham. The couple moved from Los Angeles to their native Vietnam and have two children together. Dustin's first wife was "V.I.P." actress Angela Rockwood, to whom he was married for 10 years before they split in 2011. In 2001, Angela was involved in a car accident that left her a quadriplegic and killed fellow passenger Thuy Trang, a Vietnamese-American actress who played the Yellow Ranger in the original '90s TV series "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers."
