Serious facial injuries
When Carrie Underwood and her team announced that she had fallen and broken her wrist last November, they were actually downplaying how serious things really were. On Dec. 31, she sent out a message to her fan club in which she said she "might look a bit different" after getting "between 40 and 50 stitches" on her face. She said she's healing, but "not quite looking the same." She added, "When I am ready to get in front of a camera, I want you all to understand why I might look a bit different. I'm hoping that, by then, the differences are minimal, but, again, I just don't know how it's all going to end up…. It's crazy how a freak random accident can change your life." Get well soon, Carrie.
First comes love, then comes marriage
Paris Hilton is off the market (again). The heiress took to Instagram on Jan. 2 to announce that she got engaged to "Leftovers" actor Chris Zylka in Aspen, Colorado. Paris posted several images from the proposal to social media. "I said Yas! 👰💅💍💎 So happy & excited to be engaged to the love of my life," the bride-to-be wrote. "My best friend & soulmate. Perfect for me in every way. So dedicated, loyal, loving & kindhearted. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world! You are my dream come true! Thank you for showing me that fairytales do exist.😍." According to TMZ, Chris ordered the custom 20-carat ring (worth $2 million) back in the summer, just months after the duo started dating. When you know, you know.

Going deep
Ellen DeGeneres is a part of a secret underground group that is hellbent on undermining Donald Trump… at least she is according to the president's son, Eric. Eric took to Twitter this week to show a screenshot of people Twitter recommended he follow. The three names were Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and Ellen. He then suggested they were the #DeepState. Ellen, naturally, had some fun with it. "I have some questions," she said on her talk show. "First of all, which one is Eric? Did he kill the elephant or the cheetah? Second, what is Deep State? Is it near Dollywood? Because I'm in if it is." She joked that no one undermines Donald Trump more than himself. "Eric, I just want to say I'm honored that you think I'm powerful enough to be part of a government conspiracy," she said, adding that she's too busy for "Deep State" activities. "I've got my gay agenda meetings on Mondays. On Wednesday, Beyonce and I host an Illuminati brunch, and then Portia and I on the weekends are desperately trying to have a baby." She then added that Eric's sisters, Ivanka and Tiffany, follow her, so maybe he should too.
Secretly married
Ellen Page is a married woman. Who knew?! The actress secretly wed girlfriend Emma Portner, she revealed on Instagram on Jan. 3. "Can't believe I get to call this extraordinary woman my wife," Ellen captioned a photo of her and Emma's hands both wearing wedding rings. She shared a second image of them cuddled up and embracing outdoors. Ellen went public with her relationship with the dancer in July 2017.
New album
February is shaping up to be quite a month for Justin Timberlake. Not only will he headline the halftime show at the Super Bowl on Feb. 4, but he will also release a new album on Feb. 2. JT announced on Jan. 2 that his first album in over four years will be called "Man of the Woods." "This album is really inspired by my son, my wife, my family, but more so than any other album I've ever written, where I'm from," he said in a YouTube video. "And it's personal." Sure sounds like sexy is back.
Engaged
Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley are about to get a new son-in-law. The former couple's daughter, musician Alexa Ray Joel, is engaged to longtime boyfriend Ryan Gleason. She announced the news in series of Instagram images on Jan. 1. In a pic of the couple kissing, she wrote, "He said to me: 'Before I met you, my world was in black and white. You colored it in between the lines.' It was the most beautiful thing anybody's ever said to me. How could I possibly say no to that?!?!" She later added, "So I was completely taken off-guard, dumbstruck, and shell-shocked- and FOR ONCE in my life, I had absolutely no words, and I couldn't speak… I just kept staring at this ridiculously exquisite ring- and he was just hysterically laughing at me!!!"
Rap split
It was fun while it lasted. Nicki Minaj and Nas have broken up after seven months together. The rappers split a few weeks ago, according to a Jan. 4 report from TMZ. The relationship basically ran its course, but long-distance dating played a role as well. The couple was first linked in late April/early May 2017. There doesn't appear to be bad blood here, so don't expect them to drag each other's name through the mud.
Baby No. 3
Jessica Alba ended 2017 in a big way: She welcomed a baby boy. The actress took to Instagram on Jan. 1 to announced that she and husband Cash Warren were proud new parents once again. "Hayes Alba Warren 12/31/17 Best gift to ring in the New Year!!," she captioned a photo of their newborn son's precious face. "Cash and I feel so blessed. Haven and Honor are already obsessed with their new baby bro. 👶💙 #familyof5." Jessica's husband also couldn't resist sharing his joy on Instagram, posting a pic of himself holding their child. "Hayes Alba Warren: You sure know how to ring in the new year! You showed up a few days early but we couldn't be any happier," he said. "Your Mamma is the strongest woman I know … you're so lucky to have her by your side. You have two amazing sisters who already adore you and I know you'll be thankful to have them guide the way."
Live TV marriage
Just before the clock struck midnight, flipping the calendar into 2018, Maria Menounos said "I do." The former E! host, who was diagnosed with a brain tumor last summer, married longtime boyfriend Keven Undergaro on live TV in Times Square during FOX's New Year's Eve coverage, which she was co-hosting along with Steve Harvey, who officiated the nuptials. The bride wore a Pronovias strapless lace "Randala" design gown with a matching detachable coat. In his vows, Keven said, "I got to spend the past 20 years with the greatest human being I have ever known… I will be with you in brain tumors and in health. I will be with you in this life and the next and I cannot wait to finally be able to call you my wife." Maria told him, "You've been my biggest champion. You've fought for me. You've made all of my dreams come true. When I couldn't fight anymore, you fought, you stood tall… I love you so much." Congrats to the happy couple: 20 years down, a lifetime to go!
