Kim Kardashian West donned some interesting jewelry on Snapchat — a pendant from O.J. Simpson's murdered ex wife, Nicole Brown Simpson.
Kim certainly understood the significance of the choker with a cross pendant.
"My moms necklace. Gift from Nicole Brown Simpson," Kim wrote on Snapchat along with a photo of her wearing the piece. She used the hashtag "1988."
In fact, Kim donned the choker in several Snapchat videos, including one showing her boarding a private jet to New York.
The so-called "Trial of the Century" involving O.J. Simpson has certainly made its way back into pop culture recently thanks to FX's hit mini-series "The People vs. O.J. Simpson." Kim was apparently an avid watcher, as so many were.
"She raves about it and loves it. But, um, not all the facts are accurate," Khloe Kardashain told James Corden in February. "Like when O.J. was contemplating suicide, it was in my room and not Kim's room. They're kind of sensationalizing the Kardashian name in it, but I think to bring the younger audience in.
She continued, "I'm not upset about it, but there was some scene of the kids chanting 'Kardashian' when my dad was reading the potential suicide note. I even called Kim, because I was 10. I'm like, 'Did that happen? I don't remember any of this happening? She goes, 'Absolutely not!'"
The friendship between Kris Jenner and Nicole has been well documented. Really, O.J.'s relationship with the whole family is well known, as the Kardashian sisters have said that they used to refer to "The Juice" as "Uncle O.J."
At the time of the O.J. Simpson trial, Kris was the ex-wife of O.J.'s defense attorney Robert Kardashian and considered O.J. like a "big brother."
Nicole had been one of Kris' best friends, and she's since spoken about how difficult the trial was for her family. At the time of the trial, Kris was recently married to Olympian Bruce Jenner (now known as Caitlyn Jenner). She was pregnant with daughter Kendall Jenner when the jury reached its controversial verdict.
Earlier this year Kris told Ellen DeGeneres that she and her friends regretted missing signals from Nicole that might have suggested, as Ellen put it, "I am in trouble and I need to get away from this guy."
The reality star, who said she'd known O.J. since she was 17, pointed out that she and his late wife were due to have lunch the day after Nicole ended up being killed.
"She said she wanted to show me some things and talk about what was in her safe. And so now unfortunately it all makes sense that that's probably what she wanted to reveal to me that next day," Kris recalled. "Which broke my heart because I will always feel horrible that I didn't pay enough attention."
