Sam Smith is making a permanent statement.
On April 22, London-based tattoo artist Miles Langford revealed a new tattoo that he gave the "Stay With Me" singer. The ink appears to reference Sam's gender identity, as it shows a shirtless, short-haired person looking in the mirror while wearing high heels.
"ICON @samsmith," Miles wrote on Instagram. "Thanks for getting tattooed."
Miles shared two pictures in his post: one shows him with Sam, and the other shows the tattoo.
Back in 2019, Sam came out as non-binary and uses the pronouns they/them. In the past, the singer has been open about their love of wearing high heels, which might be an inspiration for the new tattoo.

Around the same time, Sam, 28, said they struggled with body issues from a young age and underwent liposuction at age 12.
"I still struggle with weight issues," the four-time Grammy winner said. "I always will. I feel like with social media, taking my top off on social media, it helped me."
