Trump and Musk Question the Fort Knox Reserves
President Donald Trump and Elon Musk, head of the Department of Government Efficiency, have both voiced skepticism about whether Fort Knox still stores most of the country's gold.Trump remarked, "We're actually going to Fort Knox to see if the gold is there, because maybe somebody stole the gold," despite the Treasury Department stating that 147.3 million ounces of gold were officially listed at the site as of January 31.
Restricted Access and Historical Visits
While Fort Knox remains one of the most heavily secured sites in the U.S., the interior of the depository has not been viewed by the public or elected officials since 2017.That year, former Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and former Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin led a rare tour of the facility. Before that, the last civilian visit occurred more than three decades earlier, making the status of the gold a continued source of speculation.
A 'Goldfinger'-Inspired Operation?
The unnamed RadarOnline.com source elaborated further, claiming that "at least 80 percent" of the nation's estimated $435 billion in gold has been relocated due to a threat resembling a James Bond plot."The reason comes straight from Goldfinger," the source said, referencing the 1964 film in which a villain attempts to irradiate the Fort Knox gold supply to raise the value of his own.
The insider continued, "American military intelligence had determined that the Russians had their nukes trained on Fort Knox with the same purpose as the film. This was a countermove to stay a step ahead of our enemies."
Where the Gold Allegedly Is Now
According to intelligence sources, the nation's gold is now distributed among America's 400 underground missile silos, deeply embedded in remote areas of the western United States. The RadarOnline.com insider explained, "They're so deep below ground that no missile could reach the gold," and added, "And it's so spread out that even if one did take a direct hit, the rest would be safe."
The source also hinted that if President Donald Trump learns the full truth, he may choose to keep it under wraps: "If there is a tour of Fort Knox, I'm sure the president will emerge saying all is well," the insider said.
