J.D. Vance and Usha Vance touched down in New Delhi on Monday, April 21, but the vice president made a daunting prediction while in the region.The Vances — who represented the U.S. while touring India — went on their trip after Donald Trump recently pushed for tariffs.

"If India and the United States work together successfully, we're going to see a 21st Century that is prosperous and peaceful," Vance said, according to Daily Mail."I also believe that if we fail to work together successfully, the 21st Century could be a very dark time for all of humanity," he continued.

J.D. Vance, who identifies as Applachian, was accompanied by his wife, Usha Vance, and their three kids, Ewan, Vivek and Mirabel, who are of Indian descent, seemed in awe of his surroundings."I've been amazed by the ancient beauty of the architecture of India, by the richness of India's history and traditions but also India's laser-like focus on the future," J.D. said.

While in Jaipur, J.D. Vance hinted at India becoming a manufacturing partner for the U.S., as the country's trade war with China intensifies."I believe there is much that America and India can accomplish together," Vance optimistically said.
He later noted the "vitality and infinite possibility" he saw in India.

J.D. Vance, who is originally from Ohio, called his home region "the greatest state in the union," noting that it was once a "manufacturing power" that attracted his "hillbilly" ancestors to pursue the American dream."As America settled into world historic prosperity it generated our leaders began to take that very prosperity and what created it for granted," Vance stated.
"In my hometown, factories left, jobs evaporated, America's Middletown's ceased to the the lifeblood of America's economy," he added.

Aside from hinting at the U.S. and India developing a longstanding relationship, J.D. Vance shut down claims of Donald Trump pushing for a "trade war.""Nothing could be further from the truth," Vance said. "He seeks to rebalance global trade so that America, with friends like India, can build a future worth having for all of our people together."
"This is very much a win-win partnership and certainly will be far into the future," he claimed.
