Acting Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Tom Homan shared a lengthy update
on X claiming that the number of illegal immigrants trying to cross the border has gone down with Donald Trump in power unlike when Joe Biden was president. "THE TRUMP EFFECT — Total Border Patrol encounters for the entire month of June 2025 was 6,070. That is less than a single day under Biden," he wrote. "As a matter of fact, the total number of encounters is less than half of a single day under Biden on many days. Also, none of the 6,070 were released into the U.S. ZERO. President Trump has created the most secure border in the history of the nation and the data proves it. We have never seen numbers this low. Never. God bless the men and women of the U.S. Border Patrol and God bless the men and women of ICE. The interior arrests and consequences help to drive down illegal immigration. The TRUMP EFFECT keeps America winning."

This is far from the first time Tom Homan has pointed the finger at Joe Biden and Democrats over illegal immigration. During an appearance on the "
Pod Force One" podcast in June, the former law enforcement officer claimed the 82-year-old and left-leaning politicians "sold out" the United States for "power" with their more relaxed approach to border security. "There is no other reason why you would open a border. There's no downside on a secured border. There's only one reason you would do this: Because you saw a future political benefit in doing it," he said.

Tom Homan even alleged Joe Biden was more laid-back about border crossings than anyone else who held the office of commander-in-chief of the United States. "I've worked for six presidents, starting with Ronald Reagan. Every president I ever worked for took steps to secure the border. Even [Bill] Clinton, [Barack] Obama, took some steps. No one was more successful than President Trump. His success was unprecedented. But Joe Biden, I've said this many times, Joe Biden is the first president in the history of this nation who came in office and unsecured a border on purpose. They opened it, they meant to open it and knew exactly what they were doing," he alleged.
