On Friday, June 6, the court delivered a 2-1 decision allowing President Donald Trump's administration the option to block the AP from several locations including the Oval Office, Mar-a-Lago and Air Force One.The ruling emphasized that parts of the White House are restricted, giving officials the discretion over which journalists are granted access.

The AP responded to the latest ruling, sharing their disappointment."We are disappointed in the court's decision and are reviewing our options," a spokesperson told CNN.
The dispute between President Donald Trump and the AP stems from his executive order to rename the Gulf of Mexico the "Gulf of America."
The AP, which oversees The Associated Press Stylebook, refused to adopt the change, citing the ocean's 400-year history and lack of global agreement.
In response, Trump barred the AP from the Oval Office after they declined to update their style guide in February.

President Donald Trump wasn't the only one celebrating the court's decision.White House Press Secretary Karoline Levitt posted on X, "VICTORY! As we've said all along, the Associated Press is not guaranteed special access to cover President Trump in the Oval Office, aboard Air Force One, and in other sensitive locations."
Levitt also pointed out that "thousands of other journalists have never been afforded the opportunity to cover the President in these privileged spaces."
"Moving forward, we will continue to expand access to new media so that more people can cover the most transparent President in American history rather than just the failing legacy media," she added.
