The feud reignited last week when Elon Musk slammed President Donald Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill, calling it "utterly insane" and "political suicide." Trump didn't hold back in his response. In a
Truth Social post on Monday, June 30, he wrote, "Elon may get more subsidies than any human being in history, by far, and without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa. … No more Rocket launches, Satellites, or Electric Car Production, and our Country would save a FORTUNE. Perhaps we should have DOGE take a good, hard, look at this? BIG MONEY TO BE SAVED!!!"

Speaking to reporters at the White House on Tuesday, July 1, President Donald Trump hinted that his administration may consider deporting Elon Musk altogether. "We'll have to take a look," Trump said when asked if he still supports the Tesla and SpaceX CEO. "We might have to put DOGE on Elon. You know what DOGE is? The monster that might have to go back and eat Elon. Wouldn't that be terrible? He gets a lot of subsidies."

Elon Musk had earlier expressed his frustration with President Donald Trump's bill on Saturday, June 28. "The latest Senate draft bill will destroy millions of jobs in America and cause immense strategic harm to our country!" he wrote
on X. The former DOGE chief didn't mince words, continuing, "Utterly insane and destructive. It gives handouts to industries of the past while severely damaging industries of the future." Musk later issued an apology to Trump, and despite the heated exchanges, the president hinted that a reconciliation between the two might still be possible.
