Fashion hits and misses from the 2017 Cannes Film Festival

The stars have descended upon the 2017 Cannes Film Festival, and we have to admit — the fashion has certainly been on-point! But despite the celebs bringing their A-game on every red carpet, there have inevitably been some misses! First up? Kendall Jenner! Denim cutoffs on the red carpet? Not even Kendall could pull this one off! The star's outfit at the Fashion for Relief benefit on May 21 came from Alexandre Vauthier's spring 2017 couture runway, but the odd combo of shorts and an excessive, asymmetrical top still looked out of place at such a glamorous event.

In what was perhaps in an homage to her iconic red Cannes gown in 2016, Bella Hadid went with the same color this year while attending the "Okja" premiere on May 19. The model sported this stunning quilted red silk dress by Dior Haute Couture and elevated it further with her accessory choice. See that next!

Finding a necklace as beautiful as her Dior dress must have been a challenge, but Bella Hadid succeeded in adding the perfect complement — the iconic Bulgari serpent necklace, which slithered around her neck, dazzling in diamonds.

An oversized T-shirt? And patchwork jeans? Why? Marion Cotillard wore this lackluster look by Y Project at the "Ismael's Ghosts" photocall on May 17.

For the premiere of her film "The Killing of a Sacred Deer" on May 22, Nicole Kidman wore one of our favorite looks from the entire film festival! The superstar donned this stunning creation from Calvin Klein By Appointment, which was comprised of a black double-faced silk duchess satin bustier and a white silk tulle skirt. She finished the look with black patent leather heels by Calvin Klein and wisely kept her accessories simple — adding just a dash of bling with Harry Winston earrings and a bracelet.

Rihanna went for a bridal moment at the "Okja" premiere on May 19. The star donned this strapless ballgown by Dior for the big night, but it was her accessories that really stole the show.

Those shades! Rihanna stole the spotlight at the "Okja" premiere, and those tiny white-framed sunglasses by Dior helped her cause. Extra props for that intricate diamond bracelet.

We're used to Chanel delivering classic red carpet moments, but we're not accustomed to the looks being this cool. Kristen Stewart executed this two-piece Chanel design flawlessly at the "120 Beats Per Minute" premiere on May 20. The star donned a pink bandeau underneath a scoop-necked, overalls-inspired black-and-white fitted dress for an unexpected and underrated look.

Too! Much! Emily Ratajkowski attended the "Loveless" premiere on May 18 in this bizarre, over-the-top Peter Dundas creation. The excessive design was made up of a sheer lace jumpsuit and embellished with multi-tiered ruffles to give it the feel of a dress. The sheer netting at the top of the off-the-shoulder neckline and the massive keyhole cutout were just adding insult to injury on this one.

One hot mama! Just two months after giving birth to daughter Lea de Seine Cooper, Irina Shayk returned to the red carpet looking as flawless as ever in this slinky, beaded, yellow chiffon gown by Atelier Versace. The star wore the jaw-dropping dress, which she paired with strappy heels in a matching pale yellow hue, to the May 23 premiere of "Hikari."

We're not used to Elle Fanning delivering a miss! While at the "How to Talk to Girls at Parties" photocall on May 21, the actress sported this strange Prada minidress, which was emblazoned with a figure of a girl, and wore clunky shoes by Laurence Dacade to match. Don't worry, the rest of her Cannes looks were on-point!

Naomie Harris donned one of our favorite looks from the festival at the "Ismael's Ghosts" premiere on May 17 — a multi-colored tulle creation by Gucci, complete with stripes cascading in various pastel shades — for a perfectly pretty red carpet moment.

Yawn! Though it's not as unfortunate as many of the looks she's chosen on past red carpets (like her recent Billboard Music Awards outfit), Rita Ora showed up at the Anniversary Soiree during the 70th Cannes Film Festival on May 23 wearing a dress we've seen on the red carpet, oh, at least a dozen times. The sheer and embellished nude Elie Saab gown seriously underwhelmed in the midst of some major film festival fashion moments!

Diane Kruger rarely disappoints in the fashion department, and her look at the Anniversary Soiree on May 23 was no different. The star looked as pretty as a princess in this delicate Dior number. Our favorite part? The scalloping on each of the tiered layers. See them from the back next!

It's even more beautiful from the back! Diane Kruger's Dior gown cascaded in tiered, scalloped waves and featured a low back with delicate criss-cross straps.

Yawn! Julianne Moore wore this frumpy Sonia Rykiel emerald green number at the photocall for "Wonderstruck" on May 18. The odd-length sleeves and the oversized bow certainly didn't help matters.

Another bridal moment! Adriana Lima went with an actual wedding dress from Naeem Khan's bridal line at the "Loveless" premiere on May 18. Though the supermodel looked flawless in the form-fitting dress, her jewels were actually what caught our eye. Let's get a better look at that necklace!

She's literally dripping in diamonds! Adriana Lima wore this show-stopping Chopard bib necklace that has 163.85 carats of white diamonds to the "Loveless" premiere.

Even a Chanel jacket couldn't save this one! Though Susan Sarandon rocked a chic black jacket straight from the Chanel runway at the "Loveless" premiere on May 18, that unfortunate long leather skirt doomed her whole look.

Nicole Kidman hit so many fashion high notes during this year's festival that it was hard to narrow down our favorites! This exciting LBD by Versace that Nicole sported at the "Top of the Lake" photocall on May 23 made the cut. The dress had unexpected twists at every turn — one spaghetti-strap side with one long sleeve, and a short skirt on one side that goes long on the other — and all while pulling off the perfect amount of ruffles.

Another miss by Marion! Marion Cotillard attended the festival's 70th Anniversary Dinner on May 23 in this terribly tragic, '80s-channelling ensemble that left us scratching our heads. From the shoulder padding in the gold sequined blouse to the bulky belt and the leather pants, all of it combined to make one major fashion flop.

Uma Thurman looked lovely in a blush off-the-shoulder Atelier Versace gown at the "Ismael's Ghosts" premiere on May 17. The pale dress featured delicate pleated details along the neckline and down the skirt, and she accessorized the couture creation flawlessly with — what else?! — diamonds. Next up, a better view!

More than 40 carats of pavé-cut diamonds? That's what Uma Thurman accessorized with at the "Ismael's Ghosts" premiere. The star complemented her gorgeous Atelier Versace gown with this pink gold Serpenti Bulgari necklace.

Slit overload! Hailey Baldwin attended the premiere of "The Beguiled" on May 24 in this strapless gown, and we weren't fans of everything the dress was attempting to accomplish. The off-the-shoulder frock featured a pattern, a train and a slit that left nothing to the imagination, making for an excessive red carpet look.

Bella in blush! Bella Hadid selected this pale pink silk satin gown for the "Ismael's Ghosts" premiere on May 17 and nearly experienced a wardrobe malfunction with that sky-high slit. Though the strapless gown by Alexandre Vauthier was jaw-dropping, it had to compete with the massive rock hanging around her neck. Get a better look next!

Bella Hadid selected this stunning sapphire by Bulgari to bring a pop of color to her pale-hued dress. That massive gem was set in platinum and weighed in at a casual — wait for it — 180.98 carats. Just a day in the life of a supermodel, we suppose!

It's a battle of the supermodels! Emily Ratajkowski wore a look that was nearly identical to Bella Hadid's at the "Ismael's Ghosts" premiere on May 17. Emily also went with a light satin gown, complete with a high slit, but we weren't obsessed with her spaghetti-strap style from Twin Set by Simona Barbieri. Emily Ratajkowski saw Bella Hadid's massive sapphire and raised her all kinds of jewels! The model layered two necklaces by Bulgari — one was dripping in emeralds, rubies and diamonds, while the other — a pink gold creation — was dotted with pearls, rubies and diamonds.

Darling in Dior! Fashionista Elle Fanning attended the Anniversary Soiree during the Cannes Film Festival on May 23 in this sweet spaghetti-strap number by Dior. The pretty dress was dotted with delicate, multicolored floral detailing, and Elle kept her hair and makeup super-simple so all eyes stayed on her cute couture.

Rita Ora served up some major '80s prom vibes at the De Grisogono Party on May 23… and not in a good way. The singer wore this awful navy blue off-the-shoulder minidress by Ulyana Sergeenko, which was full of too many ruffles and some strange black sheer netting on the sleeves and bodice.

At the premiere of "The Killing of a Sacred Deer" on May 22, Eva Longoria positively sparkled in a Marchesa dress covered in multicolored crystals. We loved the delicate tulle layering along the sleeves and at the train. Next up, a better look at her hair, makeup and jewels!

To go with her glistening gown, Eva Longoria opted for even more glimmer. The star wore these beautiful Lorraine Schwartz drop earrings and opted for dramatic winged eyeliner and a wispy updo to complement the glamorous ensemble.

Victoria's Secret model Izabel Goulart looked flawless while attending the premiere of "The Killing of a Sacred Deer" on May 22. The brunette beauty stunned in this gorgeous high-necked white Ralph & Russo gown, which even had a diminutive train on the back.
