Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris still have love for each other, they just realized they were in a hopeless place with their relationship.
It was reported on June 1 that the couple of 15 months had split. Now, both Calvin and Taylor are acknowledging that they broke up, but they are dismissing essentially all other reports.
On June 2, Calvin took to Twitter to give a short, brief statement about the end of the romance, which is somewhat of a rarity, as he didn't often address his personal life.
"The only truth here is that a relationship came to an end & what remains is a huge amount of love and respect," he tweeted after people flooded the news cycle with claims that he was "intimidated" by her success, "hated" her lifestyle or that he was "bored" with the relationship.
Taylor retweeted his comments shortly after the tweet went out.
In April, much like she had done on Instagram, Swift gushed about her "magical" relationship to Vogue, saying, "I'm in a magical relationship right now. And of course I want it to be ours, and low-key. This is the one thing that's been mine about my personal life."
Around the same time, Harris opened up to a radio station about how "fantastic" Swift is.
"She knows when it's time to leave me for a bit on my own. Before the show," he said. "She's super encouraging and she kind of gets her vibe going with other people as well, you know. She can even cheer up my manager, which is an unbelievable feat! So it's fantastic having her around."
The split "wasn't a shock" for Taylor, People magazine reported, adding that they had ongoing issues, but no one cheated on the other. "They come from very different worlds," the source explains. "Taylor is used to being treated a certain way."
TMZ reported that the romance simply fizzled.
