Armie Hammer's estranged wife was allegedly leaking stories to the press in 2020 to sully his name.
Page Six reported that Elizabeth Chambers used a friend's email account to send stories about the actor to various media outlets, one claiming he was getting flirtatious with "Rebecca" costar Lily James.

Lily came out and denied having an affair with Armie.
Citing text messages it's claimed to have seen, Page Six said an October 2020 text from Elizabeth to her friend spoke of an interview Armie did with a magazine. "Oh yes, excerpts from his disaster GQ cover shoot," Elizabeth supposedly text. "We need to get back to commenting and sending tips. This time to the Daily Mail in the sun about Lily James."
In that 2020 Daily Mail story, which published shortly after Armie and his wife of 10 years announced a split, Elizabeth was said to be "devastated," and a source praised her parenting.
"She is an amazing woman. She doesn't deserve this. You couldn't ask for a more stunning devoted wife and she's a great mom to their two little ones," the source said.

The alleged leaked stories occurred several months before Armie went viral for supposedly calling himself a "cannibal."
Armie's ex was also allegedly one of the people to bring the "Call Me By Your Name" star's secret Instagram account to light. Further, the new report claimed Elizabeth worked with the woman behind the House of Effie Instagram account after its owner claimed to have been abused by Armie. Elizabeth's friend asked if Effie was "ok," to which Armie's ex said, "Yes, she's just dramatic. And they're all crazy."
The friend has since had a falling out with Elizabeth but is explaining why she took part.
"[Elizabeth] asked and she was my friend," the pal told Page Six on why she let her use her profiles. "At first it seemed completely harmless as it isn't the main email that I use. Then I saw everything she was writing and saying and I got super uncomfortable and lied to her and said that I needed to change my password cuz [sic] I was hacked."
Armie and Elizabeth tied the knot in 2010 and split 10 years later. They share daughter Harper Grace, 7, and Ford Douglas Armand, 5.
