An 8-year-old Pennsylvania boy quickly recalled John Cena's appearance on a prank show while his toddler sister nearly choked to death.
The boy, Jaxson Demsey, ended up saving the 20-month-old girl's life thanks to the lessons he learned from the professional wrestler-turned-actor on a Nickelodeon's "The Substitute."
Ironically, The Substitute" is actually a hidden camera prank show. In a 2020 episode, John played a CPR instructor named Mr. Barnes. Jaxon was clearly paying attention.
In detailing the incident, Jaxson said, "We were driving to my haircut, and I noticed she was starting to choke from a chicken nugget from McDonald's. I told my dad to pull over. Then I was starting to pat on her back, and it got out."
While Jaxon's dad is certainly thankful to the "Wipeout" host, he's more proud of his son.
"He amazes us every day, you know—some of the things he says and does, and his actions," Matt Dempsey said. "We're simply blessed to have the child that he is, the things that he does for his family, his friends, for his little sister. He's a good big brother."
