Britney Spears has come out in support of the Black Lives Matter movement, which has divided many of her fans.
On April 19, the pop star posted an Instagram picture of a Black man on a bus. The man is holding up a sign that reads, "White people have generational wealth. Black people have generational trauma. #WeAreNotTheSame."
Britney captioned the image, "Just sayin' 🗣🗣🗣 !!!! She also added the hashtags #BlackLivesMatter and #BLM.
To no surprise, fans immediately began voicing their opinions in the comments sections of Brit's Instagram — a large portion of the Britney brigade basically said "gimme more," while others vowed to be a critic "til the world ends."Â
"We looooove woke Britney yaaas," one person said. Another wrote, "I didn't think I could love you more!!! Thank you for this. Britney for President!!" One person applauded the comments and joked, "Senator spears has entered the chat!!!"

Naturally, a swath of her nearly 30 million Instagram followers were livid at Britney's position and threatened to unfollow her.Â
"So now we are labeling people based on skin color which is literally what we are supposedly trying not to do?" one person said. Other people called the post "ignorant" or "hurtful." Some others are now convinced that Britney's social media is being controlled, a theory that has perpetuated for several years.
Last week, Britney attempted to shoot down the rumors that she's not in charge of her life.Â
"Yes, I'm totally fine. I'm extremely happy," she said. "I have a beautiful home, beautiful children. I'm taking a break right now because I'm enjoying myself."
