Who knew holiday ornaments could be so divisive?

Social media users went wild after Britain's Selfridges department store released a line of Christmas tree decorations featuring Princess Diana and other members of the royal family.

Princess Diana Christmas Tree Ornament

The late Princess of Wales is commemorated in the form of a $48 ornament. However, the public seemed baffled by how little the object — which depicts Diana with her signature "bixie" hairdo and iconic sheep sweater — resembles the real woman.

Diana memorably donned two different red wool Warm & Wonderful sweaters to polo matches in the early '80s. Both featured a single black sheep amid a herd of white sheep. On the second occasion, the princess wore the sweater over a white collared shirt with a black tie at the neck.

Social Media Reaction

People on the internet were outraged by the portrayal of Diana as well as other members of The Firm.

"They're all hideous!" one commentator exclaimed below an article about the decorations.

"Who would even want such a thing?" a second person questioned.

"You must be a fool if you pay that for a bauble," a third chimed in.

"I think they need to get a real artist to make these for that price," another added.

"They look cheap and nasty. Seems that Selfridges have lost the plot. They should be embarrassed at having produced such tat," another said.

"I can't imagine anyone buying these," an additional person noted.

The Christmas tree ornaments resembling Prince William and Kate Middleton also drew heat.

"I definitely wouldn't buy any of these. Catherine's is a mess!" one person pointed out.

"Poor Kate!" another said.

Diana Allegedly Hated Christmas

According to reports, Princess Diana did not enjoy Christmas — especially not when she was forced to spend it with the rest of the royal family.

According to royal biographer and former friend Andrew Morton, who wrote Diana: Her True Story, the mother of two despised going with King Charles III to the royal family's Sandringham Estate for the holidays.

"I do all the presents and Charles signs the cards," Andrew recalled Diana telling him, adding that Christmas at Sandringham was "terrifying and so disappointing" with "no boisterous behavior, lots of tension, silly behavior, silly jokes that outsiders would find odd, but insiders understood."

Diana's former hairdresser Richard Dalton also backed the claim.

"The princess just hated going to Sandringham for Christmas. She told me it was freezing cold and dinner had to be over by 3 o'clock," he told Kitty Kelley for her book The Royals.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were left out of Selfridges' royal family Christmas collection of ornaments. The British department store released a range of baubles with King Charles III, Queen Camilla, Prince William, Kate Middleton and Princess Diana as Christmas tree decorations, while the pair, who left the royal family in 2020, were nowhere to be seen.

Fans of Meghan and Harry quickly mocked the special launch. "Wow, and they say Meghan thinks so highly of herself. This is beyond cringe," one person wrote on X.

"I thought this was a joke, these are real Xmas baubles? I think H&M will be ok to have been missed out on this occasion," another said.

While the Sussexes weren't included in the drop, Meghan is working on her own holiday launch for As Ever and With Love, Meghan. "I love the holiday season," the Duchess of Sussex said in the trailer for With Love, Meghan. "It's about finding time to connect with the people we love, embracing traditions and making new ones."

Before she released the teaser, the Suits star discussed the special while on a panel for Fortune. "Well, the holiday special is coming out in November. It's a really good one," Meghan said when asked if her show was renewed for a third season.

Meghan and Harry's production company celebrated the news that the former actress is developing a series of Christmas-themed cooking episodes. "This December, join Meghan in Montecito for a magical holiday celebration," Archewell said in a statement. "Together, friends and family deck the halls, create holiday feasts, craft heartfelt gifts, and share lots of laughs — with simple how-tos to follow at home. It's a holiday wonder with warmth, tradition, and a generous dose of joy."

Sarah Ferguson is grappling with the loss of her lavish lifestyle, as the author and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor were forced to leave Royal Lodge due to their ties to Jeffrey Epstein.

"She is leaning on trusted staff members," British broadcaster and photographer Helena Chard told Fox News Digital. 

Not only were Ferguson and Mountbatten-Windsor asked to leave Royal Lodge, but the former duchess lost career opportunities once it was revealed she called Epstein a "supreme friend" in an email.

"Her nerves are frayed. She is shaken to the core by the loss of her royal safety net. She fears further humiliation and worries that the serious allegations will affect her girls' standing," Chard claimed. "The couple's daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, have distanced themselves from their parents' scandals."

For years, Ferguson has stood beside her ex, but she could now change her stance.

"Sarah has made it well known among her staff and others that she no longer believes in Andrew and is preparing to go her own way after years of loyalty and public defense of her ex-husband," British royals expert Hilary Fordwich told the outlet. "She's described as 'massively on edge' and 'panicking' about her own future."

"While Sarah and Andrew are currently both still residing in Windsor, they are reportedly sleeping at different ends of the sprawling Royal Lodge," Fordwich continued. "They do get together to discuss their respective uncertain futures."

While they were once close, it seems their friendship is now strained.

"While their relationship had long been described as unusually close for divorced exes — cohabiting and supporting one another through public crises — there is now a real rupture," Fordwich said.

Royal biographer Robert Jobson revealed how Ferguson is handling the public scrutiny and isolation.

"I've known her for many years, and I'm not saying that she hasn't done anything wrong — because it has been documented what she did wrong," Jobson told Hello!. "What I'm saying is, is it the same? Should she be in the same boat as Andrew? I don't necessarily think so."

"I think we should all be aware of people's mental health, whether they're ex-prince, princess, ex-duchess, whatever," he added.

Before Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was kicked out of the Royal Lodge, Princess Beatrice's husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, reportedly helped the ex-royal with his mansion.

According to Daily Express, Mapelli Mozzi, who is a property developer, was helping his father-in-law rehabilitate his mansion. Over the years, there have been reports of the Royal Lodge needing extensive repairs, but the project will have to go on without the ex-duke. Mapelli Mozzi's role in the project was presumably axed due to his in-laws being kicked out of the estate.

In recent years, Mountbatten-Windsor has lived in the shadows of the royal family due to his ties to Jeffrey Epstein. The ex-prince resigned from duties after Epstein's victim Virginia Giuffre accused the former Duke of York of assault, but the scandal resurfacing led to a new set of consequences. In Giuffre's posthumous memoir, the author wrote in detail about her alleged abuse.

Following the book's release, Buckingham Palace confirmed Mountbatten-Windsor will no longer be able to call himself "prince" or Royal Lodge home. Now, Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson will have to make new living arrangements.

"His Majesty has today initiated a formal process to remove the style, titles and honors of Prince Andrew. Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor," Buckingham Palace said in a statement. "His lease on Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence. Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease and he will move to alternative private accommodation."

"These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him," the statement continued. "Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse."

Both Mountbatten-Windsor and Ferguson have avoided the public amid scrutiny.

Princess Beatrice has a royal title that not many know about.

While the 37-year-old is a member of the British royal family via her father, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, she is also connected to another country's monarchy through marriage.

Beatrice is also a Countess

Beatrice's husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, is an Italian count, which makes her and their two daughters countesses. (His son from a previous relationship is also a count.)

The princess and the British property developer, who is the son of Count Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi, were first romantically linked in 2018. They tied the knot two years later in 2020.

"They are very suited to each other and have known each other for a long time. I've never seen him so happy," Alessandro told DailyMail.com of the couple.

How Is Beatrice a Princess?

The mother of two was born a princess. Her paternal grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, was the reigning monarch from 1952 until her death in 2022.

According to letters patent from 1917, members of the royal family are entitled to princely titles and the HRH style only if they are male-line grandchildren of the monarch or the eldest son of the heir.

Is Beatrice's Title in Jeopardy?

After Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, lost their official titles over their past ties to the late Jeffrey Epstein, many wondered if Beatrice and her sister, Princess Eugenie, would suffer the same fate.

However, King Charles III reportedly wants his nieces to keep their places within The Firm.

"It was agreed that not only would there be no action taken by the king against Beatrice and Eugenie, but they would be allowed to accept new official royal roles," journalist Richard Eden told DailyMail.com.

His Majesty's former royal butler Grant Harrold told Daily Express, "King Charles III is very fond of his nieces and gets on with both of them really well. He will encourage them to come to family events, he will want them to be included in those private family celebrations."

How Beatrice and Eugenie are Coping with the Scandal

Beatrice and her younger sister have been doing their best to cope with their parents' scandal.

"The Yorks are an extremely close-knit family. The disgrace of Sarah Ferguson has followed that of Andrew, who has become an international pariah," royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told Daily Express.

"Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie will find their parents' predicament devastating," he added.

Meghan Markle's latest photoshoot is upsetting social media users.

The Duchess of Sussex appeared to honor Princess Diana in several different snaps in a photoshoot for the cover of the December 2025/January 2026 issue of Harper's Bazaar, which debuted online on November 19.

However, the public wasn't impressed with the tribute.

Social Media Users Rage Over Meghan's Apparent Diana Tribute

Meghan poses and dresses similarly to Prince Harry's late mom in multiple shots for the publication. In one picture, the Suits star sits on the ground, barefoot and cross-legged while wearing a white shirt and black trousers, just as Diana did in a shoot from the '90s. In another, Meghan dons a red gown similar to one worn by her late mother-in-law.

"This is FOUL!" one X user commented below Harper's Bazaar's post about the With Love, Meghan star.

"Not just 'foul' but scary. I can understand that some clothing is classic and timeless – so it's easy to unintentionally duplicate some of Diana's outfits. But parroting Diana clothing items + outfits + studio poses, borders on psychotic, obsessive, abnormal behavior. This ain't healthy, y'all. Not at all," a second person wrote.

"Talk about cosplaying Diana again," a third person chimed in.

"I would feel weird if my husband was styled like my dead mom, personally," a fourth person said.

People Come To Meghan's Defense

But not everyone agreed Meghan was copying Diana.

"Not even close… stop being delusional," one X user said.

Meghan's Paris Slip-up

Meghan recently weathered another scandal related to Princess Diana. During Paris Fashion Week in early October, the Duchess of Sussex made headlines when she took to social media to share a video of herself riding in a limo with her feet kicked up as the car drove near the Pont de l'Alma tunnel, where the former Princess of Wales died in a 1997 car crash.

Meghan Faces Backlash

People on the internet were outraged over Meghan's social media post.

"Instead of avoiding those places that the late Princess Diana went to, she went and recreated them, how evil," one X user wrote.

"Why would she film the place where Prince Harry's mother died? Moreover, why would she post it on social media for the world to see? Why?" a second person wondered.

"This is beyond disturbing. She had nothing whatsoever to do with Princess Diana, so why is she doing it?" another questioned.

Royal Experts Weigh In On Meghan's Paris Post

One royalist was especially outraged by Meghan's social media move.

"I don't understand what on earth she was thinking. Well, she can't have been thinking. No adviser would ever advise doing something so strange," royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told DailyMail.com.

"I'm sure she didn't mean to cause offense. She can't have been thinking, but it's insensitive beyond belief," he continued, calling Meghan's post "a complete absence of thought."

"Princess Diana's death is a tragedy that has scarred so much of Harry's life and I can't imagine he would find this very appropriate," he added.

Meghan Markle is comfortable with her imperfections, something she touched upon in a recent interview.

Throughout her transition back into Hollywood, the Suits star's projects have been called a "flop," but Meghan hasn't given up on her ambitions.

"You learn not to do it again. If it all goes swimmingly, you don't learn from it. If you don't learn anything, you're not going to grow," Meghan, who launched As Ever this year, told Harper's Bazaar when asked about her mistakes.

During the chat, Meghan Markle gushed over husband Prince Harry, who is also her business partner for Archewell.

"He loves me so boldly, fully, and he also has a different perspective because he sees media that I wouldn't," Meghan raved. "No one in the world loves me more than him, so I know he's always going to make sure that he has my back. You have someone who just has this childlike wonder and playfulness. I was so drawn to that, and he brought that out in me."

Meghan shared she enjoys Harry's "playfulness," which has "translated into every part of our life," including their work. "I want us to play and have fun and explore and be creative," she noted.

Meghan admitted it's great for her two kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to watch their mother build her company.

"My office is right by the kitchen, and I love that I can work from home," Meghan raved. "It's a great luxury. (Lilibet) comes and sits on my lap when I'm in the middle of the meeting, whether it's about P(rofit) and L(oss) for my brand or it's about something creative."

"I'm a mom with kids at that age where they are constantly learning something new. I watch them face things that feel completely insurmountable every day," Meghan said. "But you can remember and say, 'I know it seems really hard right now, but trust me, that's going to come so easily soon.' I can give myself the same grace as a founder. There's no such thing as perfect. I, too, get to make mistakes."

Due to the severity of Giuffre's claims, King Charles III formally removed his brother from the Windsor property.

"So I don't know where she goes. She may go to Switzerland, I think she may, you know, could go quietly somewhere in London, keep low for a while, but I think she'll be back," Andrew Lownie said about her future plans. "There is a contract between the people and the monarchy. They get respect when they serve us well. When they behave in ways seen as self-serving, they're in trouble."

In 2023, Charles asked Mountbatten-Windsor to leave the estate, but he failed to move out before His Majesty's coronation. This past year, Charles finally made the call to evict his brother.

A Total "Rebrand" Of Her Image

According to royal expert Christopher Wilson, Ferguson has overhauled her image before and is likely to do it again. "Sarah seems certain all is not lost. Public favor, she feels, can be hers once again with her planned rebrand as a 'global empowerment leader,'" the journalist wrote for Daily Mail.

"Despite all the scandals and scams, she's always managed to bounce back," Wilson added. "And here we go again, barely a fortnight after being kicked out of the royal family, the former Duchess of York is trumpeting plans to restore her battered reputation."

Although some believe the mother of two won't be down for long, her daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, allegedly want to confront Sarah about her behavior amid the scandal.

"Beatrice and Eugenie have no choice," a source told Woman's Day. "They have to stop their mom from embarrassing them all again. They feel the only way is an 'intervention'-type meeting with their husbands, Edoardo [Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi] and Jack [Brooksbank] and quite literally take control."

However, the conversation won't be easy. "They're worried about their mum and how she's going to handle this ultimatum," the same insider said. "She's always been the one making the decisions. But not anymore. Beatrice and Eugenie have leverage now."

What's Next for Sarah Ferguson?

Numerous reports have speculated that the 66-year-old will relocate to a luxury oceanfront villa in Portugal owned by Eugenie. "The word here is that Fergie will be arriving sometime in January," the neighbor told Daily Express.

"How long she'll stay is anyone's guess, but if it's a long-term move, I can guarantee she'll fit well into the social scene," they added. "Scores of celebrities and Hollywood stars have been snapping up properties in the area."

Another Major Blow for Sarah Ferguson

Not only was Sarah evicted from her home, banished from the royal family and dropped from numerous charities, but her latest venture was canceled as well.

According NielsonIQ Book Data via BBC, publishers axed the author's children's book, Flora and Fern: Kindness Along the Way, which was set to be released in October. While the book was previously listed as available for purchase via their website, it now says "withdrawn from sale."
