Kevin McHale thinks his late "Glee" co-star Cory Monteith helped guide searchers to Naya Rivera's body on Monday.
"I'm not religious by any means, but you'd be hard-pressed to convince me that Cory didn't help find our girl today," Kevin tweeted on Monday night.
Less than a week after Naya disappeared while swimming in Southern California's Lake Piru, authorities found her body Monday morning and removed it from the water. The day of the recovery was exactly seven years to the day that Cory passed away from a drug overdose.
Naya and Cory, Kevin said, "were the male and female versions of one another. So nice, cared deeply, were stupidly talented, the most fun, and really really good people."
Authorities believe that Naya, who played Santana Lopez on "Glee," died while saving her 4-year-old son, Josey. A sheriff's spokesman said the actress and Josey were swimming the lake when the water got too rough. Naya is believed to have boosted her son up from the water and into her rented boat. Naya, police say, may have been too exhausted to hoist herself back onto the boat and drowned.
Josey was discovered sleeping and alone in the boat. He was wearing a life jacket.
"She must have mustered enough energy to get her son back on the boat, but not enough to save herself," Ventura County Sheriff Bill Ayub said at a news conference.
