The Ventura County Sheriff's Department is reportedly looking into an alleged battery incident involving Britney Spears.
According to TMZ, Britney and one of her longtime housekeepers got into a heated argument earlier this week over the pop star's dog, and things allegedly got physical.
While chatting with Sheriff's deputies, the housekeeper claims she took one of Britney's dogs to the veterinarian on Aug. 16 because of issues the pooch was having. Once she returned, the "Toxic" singer questioned the purpose of the visit and argued about the dog's wellness. During the debate, Britney allegedly slapped the housekeeper's phone out of her hands, the housekeeper claimed.
After the housekeeper filed a police report, authorities attempted to speak to Britney, but she refused to talk, having likely been advised by her lawyer to remain mum.
Britney's team, however, told TMZ that the entire incident is fabricated and denied that any incident took place whatsoever. They are confident the case will quickly go by the wayside.
Once the Sheriff's Department finishes its investigation into the alleged incident, it will submit the findings to the District Attorney's Office. The D.A. could file a misdemeanor battery charge against Britney if it's determined she was in the wrong.
