A funny thing happened while Paris Hilton was moving toward "billionaire" status — she fell in love and money was no longer motivating her.

Just two years ago, while filming her "This Is Paris" documentary for YouTube, the heiress spoke of her desire to become a billionaire via her expanding empire of business endeavors… Then Carter Reum entered her life and everything changed.
"[Becoming a billionaire] was such a goal of mine before because I wasn't happy in my personal life," she said on the new "Just for Variety" podcast. "And also just going through what I went through, I always saw money as freedom and independence, and not being controlled. And I think that's why I just had that as my focus in life."
She added, "And now that I am so incredibly happy and in love in my personal life I'm not really interested in billions anymore. I'm more interested in babies."

Paris and Carter are now engaged and preparing to get married. The wedding planning process will be chronicled in a new series on Peacock entitled "Paris in Love."

The 40-year-old has come a long way in her life, as she initially began getting media attention in the aughts for being a socialite and an heiress to the Hilton fortune. You could argue that she was the first person to be "famous for being famous." But, she detailed in the "This Is Paris" documentary that her life wasn't as glamorous as it appeared, even claiming she was mentally and physically abused at a Utah boarding school when she was a teenager. She's now an activist for legislation to regulate boarding schools.
She also alleged that at least four ex-boyfriends abused her in the past. She didn't name the culprits and none of them have reached out.
"I've changed my number so many times that they can't get a hold of me, but I have had their friends reach out to me because they're all nervous that I'm going to say their names. I think people are very nervous that they'll be exposed," she said this week. "Maybe I will one day, but I'm not ready yet."

Now that Paris is in a good place in her life, she can reflect on past romances and friendships and see them for what they actually may have been all along.
"I'm sick of people using me. I'm just not going to have negative people in my life anymore," she said. "I've wasted too much time having bad people in my life who were only trying to use me."
