Russia is backing down.

After a top Kremlin official made "highly provocative statements" that made Donald Trump move United States nuclear submarines closer to Moscow, the country issued an apology to American leadership.

"Overall, of course, we do not wish to be drawn into such discussion or comment on it. We approach any statements related to nuclear issues with great caution," Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said. "As you know, Russia holds a responsible position. President [Vladimir] Putin's stance is well known."

"Russia takes the issue of nuclear non-proliferation very seriously," Peskov continued. "And, of course, we believe that everyone should be extremely careful when it comes to nuclear rhetoric."

Russia's former President Dmitry Medvedev caused alarm when he took to X to lash out at Trump over possible United States sanctions on Moscow in response to the country's ongoing war with Ukraine.

"Trump's playing the ultimatum game with Russia: 50 days or 10. He should remember two things: 1. Russia isn't Israel or even Iran. 2. Each new ultimatum is a threat and a step towards war," one post read.

Trump took to Truth Social to fire back at Medvedev's threats. "I have ordered two nuclear submarines to be positioned in the appropriate regions, just in case these foolish and inflammatory statements are more than just that," he wrote.

As Trump left the White House on his way to his New Jersey golf club, he doubled down on the move. "When you talk about nuclear, you have to be prepared. And we're totally prepared," he told reporters.

In response to Trump's military order, Peskov claimed in a statement, "U.S. submarines are already on combat duty. This is an ongoing process."

6. Death Becomes Her (August 1)

The 1992 comedy romp Death Becomes Her stars Meryl Streep, Goldie Hawn and Bruce Willis. The plot centers around a writer, Helen Sharp (Hawn), whose husband (Willis) falls into the arms of Hollywood actress and former friend Madeline Ashton (Streep). Years later, Sharp confronts the now-married pair after taking a mysterious drug that grants eternal life to the person who drinks it.

5. Built in Birmingham: Brady and the Blues (August 1)

The five-part docuseries Built in Birmingham: Brady and the Blues follows former NFL star Tom Brady as he begins his journey as part-owner of an English soccer club. No stranger to leading a team to victory, the program follows Brady and the athletes as they attempt to build a championship team.

4. Pulp Fiction (August 1)

The 1994 thriller Pulp Fiction — which was directed by Quentin Tarantino and stars John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Willis and Uma Thurman — centers around four different intertwining stories of crime and violence in Los Angeles. The flick was nominated for seven Oscars and took home Best Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen.

2. The Map That Leads to You (August 20)

The Madelyn Cline and KJ Apa-led romantic drama The Map That Leads to You will have you reaching for the tissue box. Adapted from the novel of the same name by J.P. Monninger, the Prime Video original sees Heather (Cline) embark on a European adventure when she meets Jack (Apa) and the two go on a journey they never saw coming.

1. The Pickup (August 6)

 Eddie Murphy, Keke Palmer and Pete Davidson join forces in the Prime Video original The Pickup. The action comedy centers around two unlikely armored truck drivers, Russell (Murphy) and Travis (Davidson) as they are followed by criminals led by a mastermind, Zoe (Palmer).

Megyn Kelly compared Kamala Harris to the Legally Blonde character Elle Woods during her interview with Stephen Colbert. While the film — which stars Reese Witherspoon — has a cult following, Kelly wasn't exactly complimenting the politician.

"This is what I find interesting about her," Kelly said. "It's how empty she is. The only time she really gets animated is when she talks about race, abortion, or herself. Truly, I'm a connoisseur now of this woman's commentary, and those are the three things that really light her up, and the giggling about when she gets to herself. 'I call them my baby nieces, like, that's something special about me. I have this term of endearment about my two nieces. You see, I put the word baby in front of them … That's what I do. That's my thing.'"

"And then she gets equally animated when she gets to her stupid AirPod choice … It's ridiculous," Kelly said, as Harris defended her use of wired headphones with Stephen Colbert. "She comes alive on the subject of 'Me.' Reminds me of this gal from Legally Blonde."

Kelly later showed a video of Woods yelling, "Me!" while in the halls of Harvard.

Harris went on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to discuss her new book, 107 Days, and her decision not to run for governor of California. Harris' book documents her transition from supporting Joe Biden's presidential campaign to then replacing the president after he dropped out. The former senator also explored how she views government differently after losing the election to Donald Trump.

Aside from Harris, Kelly has been critical of Colbert's response to CBS firing him and pulling the plug on The Late Show franchise.

"Many of us have had very public cancelations and some were absolutely brutal," she said after the news dropped. "And we didn't invite all our friends to come cry on the set and say, 'Poor poor her. Poor poor him. American democracy will not be the same.' Some of us took it like professionals, then picked ourselves up, dusted ourselves off, and moved on with life. Is this how it's going to be for the next year? Watching this crybaby try to play the victim that his show got cancelled? Grow up. It's called television, you toddler."

The ratings are in — and summer's most popular show of summer 2025 has been revealed.

According to Nielsen's streaming charts, Netflix's Squid Game Season 3 is the most-watched program of the past few months, with 60.1 million views in its first three days on the platform.

The final installment of the survival thriller drama has gained 134.7 million views thus far. The company's critically acclaimed series Adolescence garnered 142.6 million, while Stranger Things 4 stands at 140.7 million.

Peacock's Love Island USA also has a large reach, as it became the number two most-watched streaming program for the weeks of June 23 and June 30, with 1.78 billion and 1.7 billion viewing minutes.

Prime Video's The Summer I Turned Pretty is a hit, with five million viewers globally in its first week on the streaming service following the debut of its first two episodes on July 16. The coming-of-age story's third installment is outpacing the second season by 40 percent and tripling from its first within the same timeframe.

The other teen drama from the platform We Were Liars cracked Nielsen's top 10 streaming originals list for the first three weeks since it launched on June 18.

HBO Max's The Gilded Age expanded its viewership with Season 3, as episode six nabbed 4.5 million viewers across HBO Max in its first three days. The period piece is growing by 25 percent higher than its previous installment.

Netflix continues to score major wins with Eric Bana's Untamed also debuting the week of July 14 with 24.6 million views, which expanded to 26.1 million views in its second week.

The latest hit of the summer seems to be Netflix's The Hunting Wives. The eight-episode program raked in 5.2 million views on Netflix during its first week, becoming the number three most-watched series.

Bill Maher opened up about his biggest grievances with Donald Trump, as the comedian continues to dissect the president's second administration.

"Let's take stock of the first half of the first year of Trump's second term, and make some rational decisions about what to lose our s*** over," Maher said while discussing liberals' tendency to get distracted by the president's lesser offenses.

While Trump continues to make headlines, Maher noted that his antics are distracting from the "domestic army of masked troops" in ICE that are impacting urban communities.

"I'm not incensed. … I just don't have room," Maher said. "Right after he got elected in November, I said — here and everywhere else I could — he got the White House, but this time, he's not going to get my mind. There's only so many f*** to give."

"Steve Bannon famously said that the way you win is to flood the zone with s***. You want to help him with that? Great, you do you, but I'm not chasing every brain fart down the rabbit hole," he continued. "So therefore, here is my 1/8 of the term scorecard for what actually matters: Turning the Environmental Protection Agency into the pollution Protection Agency. Yes, that's going to matter. All the people who will lose health care and all the debt that will be run up from the Big, Beautiful Bill. Yes, that matters."

"Turning the Justice Department into the national revenge agency, firing all the inspector generals, maybe firing the head of the Federal Reserve, letting Doge destroy lives here and abroad in a way that didn't have to go down like that in order to slim the government down, which it didn't do anyway, creating a Domestic army of masked troops, rounding people up and sending them off to detention centers and foreign prisons? Yeah," Maher ranted.

He went on to share a tip liberals, saying, "Life is complicated, and Democrats need to be less emotional and more focused."

"Get a life, stop making [Trump] your whole personality," Maher said of Democrats. "So, please, when I'm out there, no more, 'Bill, did you just see what he did today?' If you don't even have to say who 'he' is, you already lost, because 'he' is already living too rent-free in your head."

Seth McFarlane has joked about other adult cartoons over the years, but the Family Guy creator heaped praise on South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone in an interview that was released after they fearlessly mocked Donald Trump on the season 27 premiere.

"I would never trade our animation team for anything on Family Guy, but their production cycle of, what is it, like, two weeks? It's kind of amazing," McFarlane said on The Ringer's "The Town" podcast.

South Park is known for its fast turnaround and cultural commentary. Parker and Stone typically write and produce new episodes in just six day.

"It's pretty incredible. … Any show that lasts that long is pretty astounding," McFarlane said. "Our shows take about 10 months to a year to produce each episode, so we have to really kind of guess what the world is going to look like, which obviously gets harder and harder."

In the past, Parker and McFarlane have publicly slighted each other.

"I just want to say for the record right now, we've seen Family Guy. … We do hate it," Parker previously said, according to TheWrap. McFarlane later told Rolling Stone that he didn't know where the "venom" came from.

"It'd be interesting to know where it comes from because I don't know them," McFarlane once told Howard Stern.

While the animosity between the television creators seems to have cooled, the creators of South Park are now facing "venom" from the White House, which publicly criticized the show shortly after the new season debuted.

"The Left's hypocrisy truly has no end – for years they have come after South Park for what they labeled as 'offense' content, but suddenly they are praising the show," White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers said in a statement. "Just like the creators of South Park, the Left has no authentic or original content, which is why their popularity continues to hit record lows."

"This show hasn't been relevant for over 20 years and is hanging on by a thread with uninspired ideas in a desperate attempt for attention," the statement continued. "President Trump has delivered on more promises in just six months than any other president in our country's history – and no fourth-rate show can derail President Trump's hot streak."

Sarah Jessica Parker bid an emotional farewell to Carrie Bradshaw.

Following showrunner Michael Patrick King's announcement that the S** and the City spinoff series And Just Like That… is coming to an end, the actress took to Instagram to share a heartfelt poem about playing the iconic character since 1998.

"She has made the hardest, worst and best decisions. Traveled near and far for the new, the vintage, friends and love. Changed homes, time zones, boyfriends, her mind, her shoes, her hair, but never her love and devotion to New York City," Parker wrote of her alter-ego while captioning a slew of images from both the original show and the reboot.

"Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte, there will never be better friends," the 60-year-old remarked of the characters portrayed by Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall and Kristin Davis. "What great fortune for Carrie to come to know and love Seema (Sarita Choudhury) and LTW (Nicole Ari Parker), most divine new connections."

In a message to fans shared on Instagram, King dropped the bomb that the franchise will be concluding after the current season of And Just Like That…, which debuted in 2021.

"And just like that… the ongoing storytelling of the S** and the City universe is coming to an end," the executive producer wrote. "While I was writing the last episode of And Just Like That… Season 3, it became clear to me that this might be a wonderful place to stop. Along with Sarah Jessica Parker, Casey Bloys and Sarah Aubrey, we decided to end the popular series this year with a two-part finale and extended the original series order from ten episodes to 12. It's with great gratitude we thank all the viewers who have let these characters into their homes and their hearts over these many years."
