Mary J. Blige is about to become a single woman after deciding to end her 12-year marriage.

The R&B legend has filed for divorce from Martin "Kendu" Isaacs, whom she wed back in 2003

Interestingly enough, according to TMZ, Mary J. listed the date of separation as "to be determined," which is rather strange.

As for the reason for the split, Mary J. listed the fairly standard "irreconcilable differences" as the factor. It's not clear exactly what went wrong in the marriage.

Although the now-former couple has no children, things could become tumultuous, as they have no prenuptial agreement. But, in the divorce filing, the soulstress asked the judge to block Martin's ability to get spousal support, TMZ said.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, her net worth is estimated to be $10 million. In 2013, though, it was reported that she and Kendu owned $900,000 in back taxes.

Aside from being her husband, Martin was also Mary J's manager.

In 2014, she spoke to Stella Magazine about the challenges of being in a relationship with your manager.

"He always has my back -- he's going to fight to the death for Mary J Blige. The downside is that there's no separation -- it's on all the time," she said. "When you don't feel like answering to your manager, he's still your husband. If one of you doesn't want to talk about something right now, you have to respect that. And you have to respect each other's space."

The duo raised eyebrows and many wondered if they had trust issues when it was revealed that were not allowed to be friends with members of the opposite sex, something Mary J. admitted.

"All females for me, all guys for him," she said. "There's none of that, 'Oh, that's my female friend. Oh, that's my guy friend.' No. Not in a marriage, I've never seen that work... Being a single person and an artist, there's a lot of selfishness that you don't even know you have. Being a wife, it's not all about me."
