Beauty and makeup expert Michelle Phan is a dynamic digital powerhouse. Born on April 11, 1987, Michelle studied illustration at Florida's Ringling College of Art and Design before dropping out to focus on her Internet career. She joined YouTube in 2007 and by 2010, her popular makeup tutorial vlogs had exploded in popularity after how-to clips on how to get Lady Gaga's eyes went viral. In 2011, she co-launched a groundbreaking beauty product e-commerce subscription service, "MyGlam," which has since been renamed "ipsy." Her YouTube channel remains a huge success, with more than than 8 million subscribers and over 1 billion lifetime views. Her top video, "Barbie Transformation Tutorial," has more than 64 million views alone. Michelle also has more than 2 million followers on Instagram, where she gives fans a glimpse into her day-to-day life. "I think my fans are my best friends," she's said of her legion of young supporters. She's also extended her digital prowess to traditional brands by partnering with L'Oreal to release her own cosmetics line, Em. But Michelle's interests extend well beyond makeup. In 2014, she launched Shift Music, a platform that brings attention to independent artists.
