Russell Wilson is not ready to jump back into football.
The Seattle Seahawks quarterback shared his hesitations about the 2020 NFL season in a Sunday, July 19, tweet.
"I am concerned. My wife is pregnant. @NFL Training camp is about to start," he wrote. "And there's still No Clear Plan on Player Health & Family Safety."
He continued on saying he wants to both play football and protect his family "#WeWantToPlay," he wrote.
The 31-year-old Super Bowl winner announced in January that he and Ciara are expecting a second child together. They already have a daughter, Sienna, 3. Ciara is also a mom to six-year-old Future Zahir with her ex, rapper Future.
Since the beginning of the coronavirus lockdown, Wilson has expressed concern and empathy for those suffering with the ramifications from the virus. In mid-March, he and the singer announced that they would be donating one million meals in order to support the Seattle community.
"The life of a pregnant woman in Covid-19 Era is very interesting," she wrote. "Russ had to FaceTime me from the car for our Ultrasound."
Wilson is not the only NFL player concerned about plans to move ahead with the 2020 season. Stars in the league such as Todd Gurley, Drew Brees and J.J. Watt also used the #WeWantToPlay hashtag to share their apprehension.
