Biz Markie has been in a Maryland hospital for several weeks with a "serious illness" connected to Type II Diabetes, according to a report.

The legendary rapper's rep confirmed the hospitalization with TMZ. The status of his medical condition is reportedly unclear, but the rep said Biz is not suffering from coronavirus.
"He is receiving the best care from an amazing team of medical professionals and we remain positive about the outcome," the rep said.
Exactly how long Biz has been hospitalized isn't known, but he is usually very active on Instagram and hasn't posted since June 18.
The "Just A Friend" singer has spoken about his diabetes before, telling ABC in 2014 that he lost 141 pounds through diet and exercise to help get it under control.
"I wanted to live," he said at the time. "Since I have to be a diabetic, If I didn't make the changes, it was going to make the diabetes worse. I'm trying to get off [the Diabetes medications]. The way you gotta do it is lose the weight. I'm off half my meds, I just got to get off the rest."
Biz said he weighed 385 pounds, but got down to 244 pounds.
