These are the moments that she's living for. Joey Feek, who has terminal cancer, prayed that she would live long enough to see her daughter, Indiana, celebrate her second birthday.
On Feb. 17, Indy celebrated her birthday.
A sweet moment from the day was captured and shared with Rory + Joey's 317,000 Instagram followers.
"Some birthdays are more than just birthdays," says the caption of the snap that shows Joey smiling as her little girl holds her hands. "They're dreams coming true and prayers being answered."
Joey and her husband, Rory Feek, certainly had a huge week, as they were able to celebrate what is likely their final Valentine's Day together. The following day they were up for Grammy Award, although they didn't take home the win.
The couple said the nomination was "more than enough."
In 2014, Joey, 40, was diagnosed with cervical cancer, but after the couple discovered that the cancer was terminal, they decided to stop chemotherapy treatments. Since then, most of their days are spent with each other, counting down the days until Joey leaves them, which is inevitable.
On Feb. 17, though, the day was all about Joey and their daughter, who they often refer to as "Indy."
In the morning, the country duo posted a video of Rory telling a smiling Indy "happy birthday."
"…barely awake and already signing and celebrating her big day," the caption to the video read.
Last week, Rory wrote a blog post on this site, thelifeilive.com, about their plans to celebrate Indy's big day.
"We will do our best to make it the very special day that it is," he said. "Our plan is to put streamers up around Joey's bed and move Indiana's high-chair in beside her, so Joey can be part of it. So she can watch our little one eat her cupcake and rip the wrapping paper off her gifts. But Joey is very fragile right now, and so with all of these plans we have, we will need to adjust for what my wife needs."
