Mariah Carey continues to rake it in for a song she put out almost 30 years ago.
Back in 1994, she songstress recorded "All I Want For Christmas Is You," one of her defining singles. Since then, the song has become a holiday classic and continues to fatten Mariah's wallet.
Citing industry experts, TMZ reported that Mariah gets anywhere from .003 to .004 cents every time the song is streamed. While that may not sound like much, those fractions add up. On Spotify alone, the jingle has over 1 billion streams, meaning Mimi might be pocketing around $4 million or more. Again, that's just on Spotify. Those numbers don't include how much the song is streamed or downloaded on other platforms, such as Apple Music or iHeartRadio.
Streaming was not on anyone's radar back when Mariah released the song, and the 52-year-old made the majority of her money on "All I Want For Christmas Is You" in the good ole pre-streaming days. Even so, the song is still a crown jewel in her collection for both nostalgic and financial reasons.
A source told TMZ, "Mariah can sit on her a** for the rest of her life and ONLY promote AIWFC and still be a millionaire."
Christmas has amounted to One Sweet Day for Mariah.
