While Broadway star Nick Cordero takes baby steps toward recovery, his son is taking a few steps of his own.
On Tuesday, Nick and Amanda Kloots' 1-year-old son, Elvis, took his very first steps.
"We have a WALKER!!!!!" Amanda captioned a video of the little tyke's huge milestone.
In the video, Elvis smiles from ear-to-ear while walking a short distance to his mom unassisted.
After posting the video, Amanda spoke about her little man on her Instagram Story, noting that she didn't see his actual first steps.
"We have a walker. Elvis took his first steps today," she said. "I missed them. HIs grandparents saw them, and I think that's adorable. Then, as soon as he saw me, he did it for me — so that was really cute."
Amanda added that she thought of her husband as soon as Elvis took those magical steps.
"My mind went right to Nick and Nick missing that moment and that wasn't easy," she said.
The Tony-nominated star has been hospitalized in the intensive care unit for more than two and a half months due to Covid-19 complications. For six weeks of that hospitalization, he remained in a coma — during which he had his right leg amputated.
Nick has dealt with a slew of medical issues and setbacks. Amanda, who's been giving constant updates on her husband's condition, said in mid-May that Nick was awake and his mental status was good. A few days later, however, she said his health had gone "downhill." A further update on May 22 said he had improved.
In her newest update, she described the situation as a "roller coaster," adding that Nick is "motionless."
"He's awake. He's not very active. He's there. His eyes are open," she said.
Nick's hospitalization is certainly taking its toll on his wife.
"Don't get me wrong, I'm not giving up any kind of hope or giving up any kind of positivity for Nick. Not at all, not even close," she said. "It's 77 days tomorrow and it's a lot, and every day that goes by I feel like my heart is breaking more and more and more because I think about him laying there and I am just devastated. And I see our little boy, just the cutest little thing, and growing up and doing all these firsts and Nick missing them and it's heartbreaking."
