There is palpable tension between David and Victoria Beckham and it has to do with his decision to start a professional soccer team in Miami, according to a new report out of the United Kingdom.
According to The Sun, Victoria sees this as a "selfish decision" by her husband.
"She is seething, devastated and furious," a source told The Sun. "Having to spend so much time away from the family will put a real strain on things."
It's believed that David will move to Miami permanently before the Major League Soccer team begins play in 2020. His younger children — Romeo, 15, Cruz, 12, and Harper, 6 — will remain in London to attend school. His eldest, Brooklyn, is attending school in New York City.
"It was the worst time for their marriage," the source said. "She feels like he's made another selfish decision to put his career first."
After the announcement on Jan. 29, David addressed the distance between his family's residence in London and Miami.
"Whenever they can, they'll be coming over," he said.
The new report comes in stark contrast to what the family is saying on social media. After the announcement became official, the couple's children, along with many other celebrities, congratulated him in an Instagram video.
In the same video, Victoria said, "We can't wait to be spending much more time in Miami as a family."
Thus far, David appears to be getting to know his new home. After his big announcement, he dined at local hotspot Komodo with his son, Brooklyn. He also checked out the Rockwell nightclub.
