With the final season of "American Idol" now underway on Fox, the list of top-earning Idols has been revealed by Forbes, with the Season-8 runner-up ranking highest with $10 million thanks mainly to earnings banked while performing in arena shows while fronting glam rock band Queen.
Country singer Carrie Underwood, who was the top earner in 2013 and 2014, came in the No. 2 slot in 2015 with $8 million based on album sales and live gigs. "Storyteller," the last album the new mom released, debuted at No. 2 and sold over 150,000 units. She'll kick off her Storyteller Tour at the end of January, which will surely bring in even more cash.
Coming in at No. 3 is Chris Daughtry and his band with $6 million. Forbes clocked them as played 91 shows in their scoring period.
Earning $5 million, Phillip Phillips also hit the road hard like Chris. The guitar-toting singer took to the stage 83 times in 2015 following the release of his 2014 album "Behind the Light."
With $4 million, Kelly Clarkson, the first Idol, who scooped the title during Season 1 in 2002, ties with country cutie Scotty McCreery. Kelly, who welcomed a daughter in 2014 and who is expecting a second child -- a boy! -- with husband Brandon Blackstock, released the album "Piece by Piece" in '15, which sold around 100,000 units its opening week.
Scotty brought in cash when playing 55 shows in '15.
The final "American Idol" champ will be crowned in May. We'll be watching!
